HEALTH | Meet Jack 👋🏼
At 29, Jack has been part of SBitC’s MENtalk programme for the past three years. Before joining, life had been a challenge — Jack wasn’t active, felt isolated, and struggled with the daily challenges of autism and dyspraxia. The loss of his mum left him facing even greater mental health difficulties, often feeling like an outsider.
MENtalk has been life-changing for Jack ✨ Through friendships with staff and participants, he’s built confidence, improved his physical health through the sports activities on offer, and found a place where he feels accepted and understood. Being part of the group has helped him cope with stereotypes surrounding autism and eased the loneliness and anxiety he would feel on a daily basis 👏🏼
Alongside MENtalk, Jack also attends a wellbeing hub where he connects with others living with autism. This peer support has given him the chance to socialise, share experiences, and feel a genuine sense of belonging 🙏🏼
Today, Jack stands as an inspiring example of resilience. Through MENtalk, he’s found not just activity and routine, but friendship, acceptance, and a voice in the community 🩵
