Neurodiversity is part of what makes our communities vibrant and innovative. 🌍

Across Coventry and Warwickshire, families, professionals, and community organisations can access helpful local resources to support autistic and neurodivergent people. These include easy to follow guides, short training videos, communication advice and tools for schools to help them create more inclusive learning environments. Everything is designed to make support clearer, more understanding and more person centred.

Last week, our Talent for Care Team proudly represented the NHS at the National Apprenticeship Show! 🌟

They joined forces with colleagues from George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, UHCW University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, and Coventry University to showcase the wide range of NHS career pathways and apprenticeship opportunities available.

We were able to engage with more than 1,000 visitors from our local communities and from further afield, including Cambridgeshire and Wolverhampton. It was fantastic to see such strong interest in NHS careers. Thank you to everyone who stopped by!

Being able to eat, drink and swallow comfortably and safely is something most of us take for granted. But for people who have difficulties swallowing, also known as dysphagia, it can have a significant impact on their quality of life and wellbeing.

Dysphagia can affect people at any age and is normally caused by another health condition. People with a learning disability may be more likely to experience dysphagia, and studies show it affects between 30-46% of people with a mental health condition and between 13-57% of people with dementia.

For Swallowing Awareness Day, our Speech and Language Therapy Team has been running activities across our inpatient wards to demonstrate how making small changes to our favourite foods can make them easier to swallow. 🍇🥖🍪

It’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week! ✨ We’re proud to support a movement that recognises and values the unique strengths of neurodivergent people across our region.

The term neurodivergent simply means that some people's brains work differently to what may be considered 'typical'. People who are autistic or who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia and other neurological differences are a key part of a balanced, neurodiverse society.

This Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we’re shining a light on the importance of creating workplaces where everyone feels seen, supported and understood.

By embracing neurodiversity, we strengthen teams, unlock creativity and improve care for our communities. 🩵

There are free online events happening all week. The sessions look at topics like fairness, good workplace design, and how leaders and organisations can better support neurodivergent people. These events are open to everyone and aim to help create more understanding and inclusive places to learn and work.

Wonderful to see organisations coming together to support carers across Coventry and Warwickshire 💙. We're proud to be a part of the Recovery and Wellbeing Academy to support carers, families, and our local communities with free courses and workshops designed to empower mental health and wellbeing.

To explore upcoming sessions or learn more about what the Academy offers, visit their website: https://www.recoveryandwellbeing.co.uk/

A wonderful day at the Carers Trust event at Coventry Cathedral.

The Recovery Academy’s Community Wellbeing Tutor, Claire, had the pleasure of enjoying engaging conversations with carers from a wide range of backgrounds. It was a privilege to hear the stories of many visitors who stopped by our stall, each sharing their unique experiences of what can at times be a challenging caring role.

It was satisfying being able to let people know about the Academy’s FREE wellbeing and recovery‑focused courses, designed to offer self help information and practical tools, connection, and hope for anyone navigating life as a carer.

It was equally inspiring to connect with other organisations present and learn more about the fantastic work they do - all of which helps strengthen our signposting pathways and ensures people can access the right support at the right time.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped for a chat. 💛 Here’s to continued collaboration, compassion, and community.

“I couldn’t save my brother, but his story could save someone else.” – Matty Loat, cast member.

We’re proud to share that WoW Street Triage: the Musical has won an Outstanding Contribution Award at the 2026 Coventry Health and Wellbeing Awards! 🏆

The musical was recognised by Coventry City Council for raising awareness of how social issues can influence mental health.

For the cast and crew, the musical represents much more than a performance. As cast member Matty Loat shared, it shines a light on the realities of mental illness, addiction, PTSD, su***de and neurodiversity, and the services that exist to support those affected. He told the personal story of his brother’s addiction to help others realise that they are not alone and support is out there.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing this powerful production to life. Your honesty and dedication are helping to start conversations, break stigma, and make a difference. 🩵
