There is a shared vision and commitment to supporting marginalised women across our which I will look to sustain beyond through shared best practice, ideas and support:

FWT gave two clients, who are on our and Barlcays LifeSkills employment projects, Cov Connects laptops to help them practice their digital skills, apply for jobs from home and connect with others.

One service user, who completed several courses at the centre, such as Confidence Building, AES Entry 1&2 ESOL and AES Digital Essential Skills, was given a laptop to continue studying from home. By practicing how to use Microsoft packages and touch typing, she is hoping to gain transferrable that she can use in work.

Another client who only had a smartphone to work said:
"Thank you for this laptop, it will help me a lot and I will not have to struggle. I was paying so much to travel to the centre to use the computers, and not able to work when the libraries were closed, but now I have freedom".

(Message from our CEO Christine McNaught): Today is International Women’s Day. The theme this year is “Give To Gain”, reminding everyone that meaningful progress for gender equality needs support from governments, organisations and individuals. When we invest in women’s safety, rights and leadership, we strengthen society as a whole. Gender equality is "not a concession, but a collective benefit".

The FWT team work tirelessly every day to tackle the Social, Health and Economic inequality women face, and support women to overcome barriers and progress forward. We give our energy, time and commitment in a sector that is under invested, surviving on short term commissioning and contracts, and supporting over 4000+ women a year with multiple complex needs.

The team go above and beyond to empower women, often when capacity and time is limited. The FWT team and organisation "give" so much so marginalised women will "gain".

Thanks to my team, volunteers, management team, committee and funders/connissioners every day, not just for today who change women's lives through power, passion and a belief in ending gender inequality.
Christine

As part of our International Women's Day celebrations, we were delighted to welcome Coventry's Lord Mayor Councillor Rachel Lancaster to FWT recently to launch the project, which Lord Coventry's Lord Mayor is leading on to share the voices and stories of women across Coventry's Twin Cities.

23 women from FWT shared their experiences, challenges, and what Coventry means to them.

The event was chaired by our Health & Integration Manager Noreen Bukhari and our Chair Viv Brosnahan, and co-ordinated by FWT's teams. Participants expressed how much they enjoyed this special event, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make it a success.

The team Sahar, Iman and Shukria are continuing to work with the women that attended and collating their voices and comments to share with Lord Mayor by the end of March.

Our CEO Christine Mcnaught was poorly so could not attend, but Christine has since been invited by Lady Mayoress of Cork Karen Brennan to attend site visits in Cork, and as a Keynote speaker at a celebration event for women's organisations in Cork, Ireland. The strategy is part of connecting women's organisations across the twin cities . Pictures to follow soon.

Also, the Lord Coventry's Lord Mayor agreed to follow up on some specific cases impacting on women who attended, for ongoing specialist support.

We hope to run a follow on event soon to keep momentum, and reflect on the power of working together.

Our CEO Christine is heading off to Cork (Ireland) Cork County Council one of Coventry’s Twin Cities this week, as part of Cork’s IWD (International Women’s Day) events.

This came about following an invitation by Coventry Lord Mayor Coventry's Lord Mayor Councillor Rachel Lancaster to meet the Lord and Lady Mayoress of Cork, when they visited Coventry in September 2025.

Lady Mayoress Brennan from Cork has asked Christine to join Cork's events (26th and 27th February) to meet women’s organisations and stakeholders across Cork, and to present on the work we do in Coventry.

It's a wonderful opportunity to form relationships with some groups and organisation's in our Twin City who fit in with our line of work in Coventry and to build strong connections going forward to share models of best practice

The Lady Mayoress of Cork, Karen Brennan, announced the upcoming “International Women’s Day Event”, which will take place on Friday, 27 February 2026 at 10.00am to 1.00pm in the Millennium Hall, City Hall, Cork.

FWT have signed up to the PrintReleaf scheme through our printing & photocopying contract for our organisation. Our CEO Christine has signed up the organisation to it and has said "PrintReleaf is now embedded into our paper usage contract at FWT, so in a small way we are able to contribute to an environmental impact strategy, and whilst only small footprints, it’s a positive contribution to overcoming climate change issues".

PrintReleaf automatically our paper consumption into positive sustainable change, giving full visibility of our paper used, the environmental impact of these pages, and the Reforestation and Carbon Offsetting activities that have been initiated in response in the UK and around the globe.
