We are pleased to launch our new report on the gender wealth gap, examining the scale of inequality and the role that wealth taxation can play in addressing it.

Wealth inequality is significantly higher than income inequality and it is deeply gendered.

The average wealth held by men is £378,079, compared to £300,017 for women.

The gender wealth gap (21%) exceeds the gender pay gap (13%).

The gender pension wealth gap stands at 43%.

Women’s wealth is more likely to be held in property and physical assets, often shared with household members, while men’s wealth is more commonly in individually owned private pensions.

Our report offers a detailed gendered analysis of wealth and sets out how tax reform could help build a fairer, more equal economy.

Our project has helped service users gain confidence and increase their employability. A volunteer at FWT had this to say about the project:

"I have been volunteering at FWT Centre over the past year, and have had access to all the employment projects being offered. When I first started job searching with the team, I was unsure about the job market and felt anxious. One of the staff members in the centre advised me to join the Barclays Life Skills project. This website had lots of modules, like 'How to write a CV and cover letter', which helped me to get shortlisted for many interviews; the modules on interview skills and confidence building also taught me how to prepare for interviews, which has helped me gain a lot of experience".

To find our more about our employment projects, contact us at 024 7663 7693 or email employment@fwt.org.uk

“If only women were less risk-averse…”
“If only they chose higher-return products…”

Too often, the conversation around the gender investment gap focuses on fixing women, instead of tackling the structural barriers that prevent many from saving or investing in the first place.

Dr Sara Reis, our Deputy Director, spoke today on BBC Woman’s Hour about why the gender wealth gap lies at the heart of the investment gap — and what really needs to change.

Listen from 20:25.

Last week marked our final session for our 8-week Confidence Building course at FWT. We ended with a small celebration to recognise everyone's progress and achievements.
We awarded certificates and enjoyed some delicious refreshments together. A few attendees brought amazing dishes, which made the gathering even more special.
We are committed to continue with Confidence Building courses at FWT, with the next one starting in September. Details coming soon.

As part of , colleagues from our health term raised he awareness of the importance of screening at different venues in Coventry.

As part of our Health Programmes, we work in the community and with some GP practices, alongside our commissioners NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board to raise the importance of Cervical Screening.

Cervical Screening , which used to be called smear test, is a test to check the health of the Cervix and help prevent Cervical Cancer aged 25 to 64. Please book an appointment as soon as you are invited. You can speak to your Nurse or Doctor if you are nervous about screening. They can talk through any questions or concerns you have. If you decide to go ahead with screening, they can make arrangements to help you feel more comfortable.

Please contact the Health Manager noreen.bukhari@fwt.org.uk for partnership working or speak to a member of the FWT Health team MAMTA@fwt.org.uk if you have any queries.
