This is how we confirm you have demodex blepharitis. The clue is what we call collarettes at the base of the eyelashes and its perfectly fine to assume this is demodex blepharitis but it's no substitute for seeing the actual amount under the microscope which could play a role in how we tackle management.

Dry Eye? Don’t Suffer in Silence...

Most of us have had that dry, burning feeling in our eyes - and yes, most of us ignore it! The reality is that dry eye is VERY common - around 20%-50% of the population get it. However, that occasional feeling of grittiness occurs more and more. Dry eye gets worse when you’re reading, on the computer or in air-conditioned environments. For contact lens wearers it can reduce the amount of comfortable wearing time. Left untreated, dry eye can cause inflammation and changes to the surface of the eye that are irreversible. Changes often occur to the eyelids and white of the eyes. Until recently, dry eye has been managed with drops. Unfortunately, lubricating drops don’t treat the condition and only serve to relieve the symptoms of grittiness and burning. Now with treatments like IPL (Intense Pulse Light) patients can regain the comfort they once had. They can wear contact lenses again and feel less tired.
