The 80 - 20 Rule....

Finding the right eating plan for you is the key to eating well.

If you feel continuously hungry whilst training, try eating smaller meals more often; so maybe 5 times a day and stick to the 80-20 rule, making sure your plate has at least 80% plant based foods and 20% protein.

Keep a food diary for 1 week and see what you really eat!

Don't cheat!!

Most of us remember our main meals but it's the forgotten little snacks and the odd chocolate that can pile on the pounds!

FRESH IS BEST!

To be the best... eat the best quality food you can afford.
Always try to support your local farmers' market and small independent shops and if possible choose organic.

Our supermarket shelves are packed with ready meals, most of which are very high in sugars, salts and fats, and becoming a label reader can reveal a lot!

Whilst prepared foods may be convenient, they are an expensive way to eat and are not really supporting good health.

The importance of Hydration during this heatwave!

Simply enough, hydration can help you avoid heat stroke and other serious heat-related illnesses. These illnesses occur when your body can’t control its own temperature, leading to overheating, nausea, and other symptoms. Regular hydration can help your body keep overheating in check.

Not only does water have a cooling effect on your body, it can also help out your heart. Proper hydration helps your body stay regulated and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood. That means that your heart doesn’t have to work harder when your body is already taxed by the summer heat.

Have a job where you're sitting down all day?

The impact on your health, and how to reserve these problems..................

Sitting for long periods of time raises your risk of;
- Heart Disease
- Stoke
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol

Those long days sat down in the office can also change the way your body reacts to insulin (the fat storage hormone) and increases the risk of diabetes.

How to take a stand;

Every 30 minutes, go for a very brief walk. I know this may be difficult under the demands of work resposibilties, however remember the impact to your health if you dont break those long seated periods.

Hit a minimum daily step count, at least 3000 steps / day.

Take part in both cardio and resistance training sessions on at least 2 working days so that you get the blood pumping to different areas of the body and increase mobility.

WHY IS YOYO DIETING SO COMMON?

WHY IS IT SO DAMN HARD TO STICK TO A DIET?

SUNDAY PLANNING IS THE KEY 🔑

Have you ever found yourself, starting your New meal plan that is healthy for you and will help shift those extra pounds?

You start the week well, both Monday and Tuesday are going great and your already feeling the benefits?

Then Wednesday you have a really stressful day at work, you're so busy that you end up skipping lunch.

By the time you get home you're about ready to bury the diet and eat anything and everything in sight 😰

You've now broken the bond you have with your new diet, and You say to yourself, ill start again next Monday.

Then this cycle just repeats until you decide its time to give up on the diets.

How do we solve this viscious cycle of 'Yoyo Dieting'.

Preparation and planning is the key.

If you think thats sounds similar, I would recommend planning your entire 7 day week ahead out on a Sunday.

If you can be strict during the first few week days (simple routine days) then this is a great chance to get plenty of micronutrients in (fruit & veg), and eat as clean as possible.

Then the last few days of the working week, have some meals that are more enjoyable or tolerable for you, maybe some more carbohydrates or change the white meat for some nice red meat meals.

Then for the weekend, choose meals you really enjoy, without going too crazy. The main reason we overindulge on weekends is because we haven't planned what we will be eating, end up going long periods of time between meals and then eat everything we see!

Plan your entire week out, including weekend, getting more lenient throughout the week, and see if you can finally hit 7 days of consistent dieting 💪
