Another powerful reminder of what recovery is all about 🙌

This week, we came together as a community to celebrate a huge milestone — 6 months clean for one of our residents 💪

Moments like this matter. Not just for the individual, but for everyone in the room. It shows what’s possible with the right support, structure, and commitment to change.

We marked the occasion properly with a meal out at Pamir — one of our go-to spots. Incredible Afghan barbecue, great atmosphere, and always a warm welcome. If you’ve never been, it’s definitely worth a visit 🔥

This is what we’re building at The Beacon — not just recovery, but connection, celebration, and a life worth staying clean for.

The journey continues 👣

🚨 Big News from The Beacon 🚨

We’re proud to announce that The Beacon has expanded further — with 6 new bed spaces, all en-suite, now available 🙌

This means we can support even more people who are ready to break free from addiction and step into long-term recovery.

We’ve been working closely with our new landlord, who has gone above and beyond to bring the property up to the exact standard we needed — and we couldn’t be happier with the result. The space is clean, safe, and built to support those in recovery.

We’ve already begun welcoming new residents in… and this is just the beginning.

The Beacon is growing.
The Beacon is reaching more people.
The Beacon is shining brighter than ever.

We’re proud to be strengthening our place within the recovery community in Coventry — and we’re not slowing down anytime soon.

If you or someone you know needs support, now is the time to reach out.

We received something truly special this week…

A resident’s mum gifted us a handmade piece of the Serenity Prayer — created entirely from hundreds of tiny coloured pin heads.
The time, patience, and care that must have gone into this is hard to put into words. It’s not just a piece of art… it’s a reflection of love, hope, and belief in recovery.
For those in early recovery, the Serenity Prayer isn’t just words — it’s a daily guide: • Accept what we can’t control
• Find the courage to change what we can
• Learn the difference between the two
To have that message captured in something so detailed and personal means a lot to us and to the house.
We’re incredibly grateful. Acts like this remind us that recovery doesn’t just impact the individual — it reaches families, rebuilds relationships, and restores connection.
Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness. It won’t be forgotten 🙏

A gas safety check is required at one of our properties in Coventry. Can anyone recommend someone who can be available to complete by tomorrow?
Thank you in advance 😊🙏🏻

I'm in need of a tradesman who can do some tiling for a kitchen splashback, fit a new sideboard and do some electrics asap. Thank you 🙏🏻

⛳ Trying New Things in Recovery ⛳

Recently some of our residents headed out to the local driving range for something a little different — and it wasn’t really about golf.

In recovery, when people put down drink and drugs, many realise they’ve never truly discovered what they enjoy. Hobbies, interests, and simple fun can feel unfamiliar at first. That’s why at The Beacon we make it a priority to introduce a wide range of positive experiences — giving people the chance to try new opportunities, explore different hobbies, and reconnect with enjoyment in a healthy way.

Days like this help build confidence, create genuine moments of fun, and challenge the old belief that you need substances to have fun and enjoy life. Sometimes you don’t know what you like until you try it — and that’s where growth begins.

Proud of everyone who stepped up, gave it a go, and shared some laughs along the way.

🎉 A Month Worth Celebrating 🎉

It’s been a good month at The Beacon.

Staff birthdays.
30 days clean.
60 days clean.
A hard won 6 months
And an amazing nine months clean.

So we did what we do best — we got together and went out to an all-you-can-eat buffet in Coventry.

Did we overdo it?
Absolutely.

Recovery teaches many things… portion control clearly isn’t one of them yet 😅

But the laughter, connection and pride around that table said everything.

A special mention to one of our residents celebrating nine months clean — she’s now secured a voluntary role, giving back to the community. She’s rebuilding her confidence, growing in self-worth, and finding real purpose again after a time feeling a little lost.

This is what it’s about.
Progress. Purpose. Community.

🧠✨ Strengthening Recovery at The Beacon ✨🧠

We’re incredibly pleased to welcome Kirsty Heath to The Beacon team, who joined us a couple of weeks ago as our in-house therapist. Her arrival marks an important step forward in the depth and quality of support we are able to offer.

Kirsty is now providing structured one-to-one therapy alongside therapeutic group sessions, creating a safe, professional space where residents can explore the deeper emotional and psychological aspects of recovery. This supports individuals to move beyond surface-level change and begin addressing the root causes of addiction, trauma, and emotional struggle.

Her presence also strengthens our team, helping us work in a more psychologically informed way — improving our understanding of behaviour, emotional regulation, relapse triggers, and personal growth, while supporting staff wellbeing and maintaining healthy professional boundaries.

This means for residents:
• A safe space to explore trauma, emotions, and identity
• Deeper self-understanding and personal growth
• Stronger relapse prevention and emotional resilience
• More individualised recovery pathways

For our team:
• Greater psychological insight
• Stronger role clarity and boundaries
• A more reflective, therapeutic culture
• Continued growth in the quality of care we deliver

This progress has only been possible thanks to the generous support of The National Lottery Community Fund, whose funding continues to strengthen and develop the care we provide.

Kirsty has already made a positive impact, and we are grateful to have her with us as we continue building a recovery environment that is supportive, structured, and psychologically informed.

The Beacon is burning bright. 🔥

🌿 Robins, Horses & Hidden Tunnels 🌿

With the darker evenings and winter weather keeping us closer to home, we’ve been focusing on local walks — and last week’s circular from Cathiron to Newbold-on-Avon was a good one.

Along the way we spent some time with a group of curious horses who wandered over to greet us, bringing a calm and grounding moment for everyone. Not long after, a little robin appeared and stayed close by for much of the walk. Many people see robins as symbols of presence or loved ones walking beside us, and it certainly added a quiet, reflective feel to the day.

One of the unexpected highlights was the canal tunnel — appearing completely empty at first, creating a strange optical illusion before revealing its depth as we moved closer. A small reminder that things aren’t always what they seem.

Cold, muddy, and getting dark early — but still showing up and moving forward together. Looking forward to longer days, better weather, and getting further afield again. 🌿🚶‍♂️

🪘 The Beacon with Primal Sound – Halfway Through! 🪘

We’re halfway through a four-week drumming programme with Primal Sound, led by the wonderful Sarah, and so far it’s been incredible.

The guys have been learning djembe drumming and the room has been full of laughter, giggles, banter, rhythm and energy. It’s honestly surprising how fast the time flies when everyone’s so present, engaged and enjoying themselves.

Beyond the fun, drumming is proving to be a powerful tool in early recovery:
✨ Reduces stress and anxiety
✨ Lifts mood and supports emotional release
✨ Builds confidence and self-esteem
✨ Strengthens connection and teamwork
✨ Encourages mindfulness and presence

Huge thanks to Sarah from Primal Sound for bringing such warmth and positive energy into our space. We’re absolutely loving this journey 💙
