📚 Help Us Build The Beacon Recovery Library 📚

At The Beacon, we’re building a small but powerful Recovery Library for our residents — a collection of books that support healing, reflection, spiritual growth, and long-term sobriety.

We’ve created an Amazon Wishlist made up of carefully chosen recovery-based literature — including autobiographies, spiritual texts, and practical books that help people in early recovery change their thinking, find hope, and stay focused on their journey.

These books won’t just be read once —
they’ll be lent out to residents for years to come, making this a meaningful, long-term investment into people rebuilding their lives.

If you’d like to support recovery in a simple but powerful way, you can choose a book from our Wishlist and have it delivered straight to us:

Every book donated becomes a tool for change.
Every page helps someone move one step closer to a better life.

Thank you for supporting recovery in our community 💛

🤝 Community Support & Networking – Delivering Real Results 🤝

We’re pleased to share that we were officially notified today that The Beacon has secured £9,500 to support the next stage of our development. "We are more than over the moon with this news. Thank you"

This funding will allow us to strengthen what we already do, grow our impact within the community, and introduce further opportunities that directly support people in recovery — from developing our services and facilities to widening the scope of what we can provide.

This step forward helps us to:

Build a more sustainable and resilient project

Expand recovery-focused initiatives

Respond more effectively to community need

Create stronger pathways into long-term, stable recovery

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes, and over the coming months you’ll begin to see the positive impact of this growth reflected in our work.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support, encourage, and walk alongside The Beacon. The future is getting brighter. 💡

🌿 Expanding the Ways We Support Recovery at The Beacon 🌿

We’re proud to share that our team is now fully qualified to deliver auricular (ear) acupuncture to residents here at The Beacon.
This is another tool we’ve added to our arsenal in battling the disease of addiction — not as a replacement for recovery work, but as a powerful supportive therapy alongside detox, structured programmes, mutual aid, and therapeutic input.
Auricular acupuncture has been widely used in recovery settings to support both detoxification and general health, and many people experience benefits such as:

✨ Reduced anxiety and stress
✨ Improved sleep and relaxation
✨ Decreased cravings and urges
✨ Support withdrawal symptoms
✨ Emotional regulation and grounding
✨ Improved focus and mental clarity
✨ Support for the nervous system and overall wellbeing

We use a recognised, trauma-informed approach based on the NADA protocol, making it suitable for group settings and accessible even for those who struggle with talking therapies early on.
At The Beacon, we believe recovery isn’t just about stopping substances — it’s about healing the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. This is another way we’re widening our scope to give residents the best possible foundation for long-term, sustained recovery.
If you’re considering applying, know this:
we don’t do “one size fits all” recovery.
We keep learning, growing, and adding tools that genuinely help people stabilise, heal, and move forward.

🧭 The Beacon — guiding recovery, building healthier futures.

✨ A Big Step Forward ✨

One of our resident volunteers has now progressed in his recovery to the point where he’s ready to take the next big step — living independently.
We’re really pleased to share that we’ve secured him a 2-bedroom flat through one of our trusted property providers. This means he now has the space to welcome his children to stay, and most importantly, he’s in a position to successfully meet the requirements of his court-ordered child arrangements.
This is a huge and positive milestone — not just in his recovery, but in rebuilding family life and moving forward with stability and purpose.
It was also lovely to see Natalie quietly pick up a few moving-in gifts for him. Anyone who knows Dan knows he hates fuss and doesn’t like surprises… so naturally, it was the kind of gift that gave back 😆
Moments like this are why we do what we do. Proud of the progress, the perseverance, and the people who make this journey possible 💙

🙌Team Work Makes The Dreams Work 🙌

We had a brilliant time out at Starpins in Coventry last week — great laughs, good energy, and plenty of friendly competition all round.

Bowling kicked things off, followed by augmented darts (where the ladies absolutely smashed it — and yes, everyone was surprised… including them 🎯👏). We also had a go at curling, which was a lot more fun than expected, before finishing up with staff vs residents. Staff won… obviously 😄🏆

We wrapped the day up with a solid hour of pool and just enjoying being together.

Days like this matter. Stepping out of a work environment, not talking about recovery all the time, just doing normal, social things and getting to know each other on a deeper level. Simple stuff, real connection, and plenty of laughs.

Thoroughly enjoyed by staff and all residents involved 💚

☕🥓🍳Big Breakfast to start the day☕🥓🍳

Last week we kicked off our team-building day with a proper big breakfast together at Rossi's
Good food, good chats, and plenty of laughs — the perfect way to set the tone for the day.

It was a really lovely way to come together as a team before getting stuck into everything else we had planned. Simple moments like this matter and remind us how important connection is.

More photos to follow from what else everyone got involved in throughout the day 👀✨

🌿🐴 Six Weeks of Equine-Assisted Therapy – A Huge Thank You to The Horse and People Project 🐴🌿

Over the past six weeks, our residents have had the privilege of taking part in a fully funded equine-assisted therapy course provided by the incredible Horse and People Project.

A huge thank you to Louise and Kate, the co-facilitators who have been absolutely brilliant. They’ve made our residents feel welcome, safe, and supported from the very first session. Their calm approach and genuine care have helped create a space where real emotional growth can happen.

And the horses… just beautiful. Beautiful to watch, beautiful to work with, and powerful in ways that are hard to put into words.

The emotional benefits for our residents have been amazing. Every week they return feeling calmer, more grounded, and deeply relaxed. It’s been a space for reflection, connection, and healing — something that has made a real difference to their wellbeing and recovery journeys.

We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and for the generosity behind making it fully funded. Thank you, Horse and People Project, for giving our community something truly special. 💚✨

✨ 90 Days Clean – A True Comeback Story ✨

Today we want to shine a light on one of our residents who has just celebrated an incredible milestone — 90 days clean.

He’s actually been with us longer, and yes, he experienced a relapse along the way. But relapse doesn’t mean failure… sometimes it’s part of the journey, part of the learning, part of what pushes someone to dig deeper. And that’s exactly what he’s done.

Since coming back, he’s thrown himself fully into his recovery.
💚 He’s actively involved in mutual aid groups
💚 He’s found himself a sponsor
💚 He’s working through the 12-step program
💚 He’s taking ownership, showing up, and learning who he truly is

He’s leaving no stone unturned, and it’s been powerful to watch him step into his potential. His dedication, honesty, and effort are clear every single day.

Anyone can come back from a relapse.
Recovery isn’t about perfection — it’s about progress. And right now, his progress is nothing short of inspiring.

We are incredibly proud of him and grateful to witness his comeback story in real time. 🙌✨

Keep going — you’re proving to yourself and everyone around you what recovery CAN look like when you commit.

⚒️⛰️Thor's Cave⚒️⛰️

We had a cracking day out last week taking the guys for a walk in one of our beautiful National Parks.

The views were unreal, the weather was on our side (although a little cold), and it was just good vibes all round. The walk had a few tough sections, but everyone stuck together and supported each other the whole way — proper teamwork 💪

It was also great spending time with some of our newer residents who are settling in really well. Days like this really do make a difference 🙌🌿

Already looking forward to the next one 🔥

🌟 A Big Milestone for One of Our Residents 🌟

We’re celebrating a huge step forward here at The Beacon — one of our residents has quietly reached six months clean.

We won’t share any personal details, but what we can say is this: watching someone rebuild their life, learn to regulate their emotions, stay open to growth, and show real willingness… it’s honestly inspiring. Moments like this remind all of us why the work matters.

This milestone stands as proof that change is possible at any stage of life. It’s never too late to learn new ways of living, heal, or take your power back.

For anyone out there still struggling — please know there is hope. You’re never alone, and you’re never past the point of turning things around.

We’re incredibly proud of the progress being made here, and today is a reminder of what’s possible with support, courage, and consistency. 🙏✨
