Changes to routine, new classroom learning, navigating friendships... the start of term can bring lots of changes and lots of feelings for children. Supporting your child who may be feeling anxious about school begins with understanding their world.
Our taster pathway 'Understanding your child's feelings' can support you to recognise what your child might be feeling and gives you confidence to know how to respond.

A pathway designed for busy parents for when it's not so easy. Find out more in the comments.

First phone tips 📱👇

1. Ask about what apps, games or websites they use to help you learn what they enjoy and what worries them. You can use these chats to set boundaries.

2. Explore privacy settings on apps and games with your child. You could look at screen time limits, content filters and set up parental controls.

3. Explain they should never feel pressured, scared or uncomfortable online. They can say no to things and adults are there to help.

4. Let them know they can always talk to you and they won’t be in trouble.

5. Make online safety part of everyday conversations as they grow to help keep them safe.

❄️ Winter Walks & Water Safety ❄️

When it’s cold outside, rivers, canals, and ponds can be extra dangerous. If you’re out walking this winter, remember these simple water safety rules:

🚶 Keep back from the edge – slippery paths can make you fall in
🧊 Stay off the ice – it may look strong, but it can crack easily
🐕 Keep children and dogs close so they don’t run ahead
🚨 In an emergency, call 999
🛟 If you fall in, float on your back and shout for help

Staying safe means everyone gets home warm and happy 💙

Lakes, ponds, canals and reservoirs can be beautiful places to visit during the winter months but many people risk their lives by venturing onto frozen water.
