It’s not a long message, but it’s one of celebration and gratitude.

Thank you to everyone who came out into the sunshine today to flow under a blue sky with us. We appreciate you.

Even if you couldn’t make it today - know how much Ben & I value you. Thank you for supporting us, helping us grow and being part of our community.

From me to Ben, thank you for continuing to help me to bloom, to find my feet and encourage me in all we do. Many exciting things ahead in our fourth year together.

I’m very fortunate to be able to work alongside someone I love, who listens to my gurn, who corrects me when I’m wrong, who celebrates me when I win, and who holds me up.

To every person who comes to the odd class, joins online, is there twice a week, please know that we genuinely treasure your commitment and we feel so fortunate to have you not only as clients but as friends. The community grows and we are touched.

Good job guys. We are proud.

✨ MY GIRL ✨

I didn’t choose Anna as my member of the month for April because she’s literally just got married, she’s also just an epic person.

Anna came to me for garden yoga a few years back, and when I met her I remember thinking to myself this is someone I could get along with. I don’t often ask yoga clients out for coffee, but this was an easy decision. I think that as we become adults and move away from our childhood home, we separate a little from the friendship groups that we grew up with. I’m not sure people admit to how difficult it is to forge new friendships in adulthood. Is it even harder for women? Ben joined a dad’s football team and seemed to have a whole reel of new pals within a week. There doesn’t seem to be that same opportunity available to women.

And so, all this to say, after a few chats with Anna, I knew she was someone I wanted in my life. And a weird full circle moment, it turns out I was at uni with her brother in law and worked alongside her twin sister!

Anna claims to be “Monica from friends”. She’s self confesses to be uptight, has a spreadsheet for everything, is constantly on the go and thinking about what is happening next. In yoga classes, I watch her little toes tap in savasana and I know she’s forming a todo list for her evening. And yet, she is one of the lightest people I know. She can properly get a big belly laugh out of me, because although she claims to be a**l she is actually very easy going. She’s always thinking of those around her, and she radiates positivity.

There’s like a yoga stereotype that all teachers are these pristine creatures that float around gracing us all with words of wisdom, who remain in this state of calm the just oozes out of them.

I am here to tell ya, that’s not us. We are only human, and we are imperfect. I constantly look controlled my emotions and let them get the better of me. Ben scrolls on his phone so much he had to download an app that locks him out after five minutes. We struggle to start the day without a coffee hit (that’s just me).

All this to say. Yoga is for everyone, no matter what stage you’re at, what journey you’re on, how messy your life is. Don’t be fooled. My head is total chaos. Yoga just helps me manage it a wee bit. As does the wee drink.

We don’t live this way from depravity, but deliberately and with intention - because to us it matters. We live in a culture that tells us we have to consume, keep up, perform and by choosing not to can seem totally mental.

I know that it might seem easy for us to say as we live in our ivory tower, or when we go on another holiday, but that’s due to conscious choices we make every day to live a sustainable life.

I can’t tell you the freedom I felt when I decided I wasn’t going to buy new clothes anymore. When we chose to not go out for dinner and drinks once a week but stay at home have family time. The joy that comes from finding a new place for an old piece of furniture that’s been saved from the dump and looks perfect in our house. To see our behaviours filtering down to Ruan - creating more space for deeper values, creativity, community and rest.

When we consume less we waste less, extract less, and more mindfully use the earths resource. We stop seeing our value as what we own and loosen our grip of comparison. Long term security over short term applause.

Wealth isn’t always loud. Let’s normalise this.

🎂 It’s so exciting to think of how far we have come since we opened our doors in the Masonic Hall three years ago. From the launch of our own studio, weekend retreats, sound baths, cacao ceremonies, day trips and Pilates too, we are over the moon to be able to continue to expand with you.

There are some of you who have attended from the start, and it is so joyful to see you improve, engage and grow.

We thought we would celebrate with a yoga flow (what other way) and an optional cacao ceremony too!

We’d love to have you with us!

✨C L I E N T S P O T L I G H T ✨

*I nearly took this privilege off her because she’s doing more Pilates than yoga now*

Ann. Where do I begin. The most craic you’ll have in your yoga class (and now Pilates too). Following in the footsteps of her brother in law Martin, Ann has been with us for two years now. Fiercely dedicated (when she’s not holidaying in Spain 5 times a year) and is in nearly three classes a week if not more, showing true commitment to self preservation.

Always with the most fabulous hair, Ann shows up to class with a smile on her face ready to graft and have a giggle along the way. Don’t make eye contact with her during class. You’ll be at the mercy of her infectious laugher. Thank you Ann for all you bring to our community.
