✨ Spotlight time!

This lovely lady is one of these women who seems to be able to do it all! Tanya has a young family, runs her own business, holds down a job, just rescued a dog and managed to swim enough miles that she hit her fundraising target for MacMillan cancer charity this year.

And get, it’s not always been so easy. She just makes it look that way. I’m really proud of Tanya, when I first met her she was admittedly quite burnt out and never found time for herself. She has had to be brave this year, prioritising her own needs and future dreams. In doing so has found a new sense of fulfilment in her life. Her business is thriving, as is her relationship with her family.

She also gets absolute top marks from me because she brings her beautiful youngest son Gabriel along to yoga most weeks. What a brilliant way to demonstrate a healthy lifestyle to your kids.

And if you aren’t in the know - her cakes are to DIE FOR. for more info. Thank you Tanya for your commitment, cakes and the joy you bring to class!

• How long have you been practicing yoga?
1 year

• What motivated you to start practicing?
I was looking to find time for myself, slow down the crazy routine and relieve my back.

• What has yoga done for you as a person?
Yoga has helped me to stop and think more about me, more about my priorities, what makes me happy, what helps me to enjoy everyday and all the simple things in life like going for a walk, a simple cup of coffee in silence with my self. Helped me to focus on what really matters.

• What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone who is just starting their yoga journey?
I would say to enjoy every minute of the class, challenge yourself.

• What are some of your favorite yoga poses, and why do you enjoy them?
Half moon is definitely my favourite but I enjoy the twists we do with our back, throughly relieving.

As much as I love a dry, crisp autumn day, I always dread the turn in the season a wee bit. I always struggle to allow myself to do less, and actually feel quite guilty about being less productive, even though it’s literally what the season is calling for. The nights stretching on longer is meant to signal to our bodies that we need a REST. So why do we feel so bad taking it?

I’m going to try and embrace what autumn has for me, and aspire not to feel like a failure when I decide to stay in and light and wee candle (and drink a wee gin).

sorry in advance, this is a sweary one.

There are so many gyms, gym instructors, yoga teachers, Pilates girlies on insta making it all look so easy. Running a business and bodies made of rubber with elite strength. Are ya having a laugh?

This is really hard. Hard work physically, like Ben can’t really touch his toes and I still can’t do a three legged down dog. Tough emotionally. We’re opening a garden studio, and we’re absolutely sh****ng ourselves that we have just poured all our savings into something that won’t pay off.

You wake up every day fixed on trying to convince people to come to your studio, attend your classes and engage with your content. Ben is always talking numbers in the gym, members, classes, retention.

It’s so joyful, teaching the class is nearly the easiest bit. The most craic! We’ve met some unreal people along the way, and we’re so lucky to have each other to bounce ideas off. But holy s**t, this is Really. Fu***ng. Hard.

Were you off work today? Aye but I was trying to plan three yoga classes, organise a new event, promote social media for a retreat and then like get my own practice and meditate? So yeah. A wee day off. Plus all that comes with that day off, childcare, housework, laundry, meals. Oh, and training for a marathon (three weeks out).

We love you guys. Thanks for the support. Here’s a partner puppy pose. Because hearts open a lil easier when you’ve got a pal. ✌️

I’m Ally and he’s Ben, the two eijits behind Ballymore house. I thought I’d reintroduce us as we near 1000 followers. We’re a pair of animal loving vegans, restoring a big old beautiful house in the country, who love a wee city break. We’ve an eleven year old in the mix who’s busy giving us a hard time most days as he navigates his aspirations towards either becoming a vet, professional footballer or stand up comedian. Who knows.

About two years ago I made the decision to do some yoga teacher training, hoping to do a wee drop in class once a week in the local hall, alongside my hours at the hospital as a nurse. Ben, gym owner and serial entrepreneur, was cute enough to give me a lend of his classroom space. Fast forward to today, and yoga & wellness has completely taken over our lives.

We’re currently (or rather, Ben is) building our own studio. We’ve hosted two retreats so far, and our third is in the calendar for next year. Between us, we host seven fitness classes a week, all with the aim of bringing a wee bit of health and wellness to others.

Ben is the self appointed CEO of Ballymore house, top chef, barista, marketing agent, website designer and general sounding board for all my nonsense. He hasn’t much else to be at, just manages three businesses, rears the child, looks after a menagerie of animals, writes his own music, maintains a 1906 arts and crafts house and feeds me spuds so I can run marathons. It’s all craic. He’s pretty hot, too.

It’s not for everyone, but we love the mayhem. You can come join us. It’s all craic.

redirect my career from nursing, and become a yoga instructor instead.

Munchkins & flow is the perfect way to spend time connecting to your little one, whilst getting to move your body!

We will aim to have a light, beginner friendly yoga session, and the munchkins can take part in as much or as little as they want to. We will dot a few toys around the place to keep them busy, and let them lead by example. Children only move in a way that feels good!

This is a great opportunity to lead by example and set the foundation for the health and well being of your cub.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch!
