A Message from Mrs Darling and the VV Dolls.

As some of you who are local to the boutique may already be aware; there was a serious crime incident at the weekend that culminated with a vehicle crashing through the main wall of the shop.

Our first and main concern was that all involved in the event are okay. Anything else can be fixed.
Our thoughts are with the two injured pedestrians to whom we
send our love and light for a quick and speedy recovery.

We have not yet had time to fully assess the damage or consider what might be next for our wee business, but we will be closed until further notice and will keep you all updated as things progress.

We will try to continue fulfilling any online orders in the meantime, but for the next week or so these may be slightly delayed as we face the challenge of the next steps, and we appreciate your patience during this period.

Many heartfelt thanks to everyone who has reached out already offering support and kind words; we appreciate every single one of you.

VV x

We are delighted to reveal that, from September 2021, Mental Health First Aid training will be available from Sustain Ltd.

Having provided clients across the UK with training in First Aid at Work, and in a range of general and bespoke Health & Safety and Environmental Management disciplines, for the past 12 years, this was a natural progression for us.

Accredited by the First Aid Industry Body, we can offer three levels of training in Mental Health First Aid;

• Half Day Mental Health Awareness
• 1 Day Mental Health in the Workplace
• 2 Day Mental Health & Wellbeing in the Workplace

Our training will be available initially in-house for clients around our 3 bases in Moira (Northern Ireland), Gosport (Hampshire) and Ayr (Scotland), and also via Zoom for those further afield, through enquiry to info@sustainltd.com

Like all of our training, we will make each course as bespoke and specific to the client group as possible. This is what has always distinguished us, and it will continue to be our signature!

It is intensely hot on the Hampshire coast this weekend, and our Lily prefers the evening for her daily time on the beach.

Dogs dehydrate faster than humans, and it is important to limit their time in the intense sun.

Signs that your dog may be impacted include:

• Excessive lethargy and panting
• Dryness around the eyes and gums
• Increased heart rate and weak, rapid pulse
• Decreased capillary refill time

Concrete and asphalt surfaces outside also heat up quickly in direct sunlight, and it is essential to ensure that those surfaces are not too hot for dogs to walk on. If they are too hot for you in bare feet, they are too hot for dogs!

We provide more detail in our First Aid training, both human and dog, in addition to a range of Health & Safety and Environmental services from our bases in Gosport, Ayr (Scotland) and Moira (Northern Ireland) via enquiry to info@sustainltd.com 🐕🌞

Oooooh.... careful out there!

Northern Ireland-ers not used to heat like that. Plenty of water (especially in between beers) and sun cream at the ready, to avoid the horror of sunstroke.

Sunstroke and dehydration is no joke, and the onset in these temperatures is quicker than you might imagine!

OFFICIAL: Today was the hottest day ever recorded in Northern Ireland!! 🥵 🔥

Ballywatticock in County Down has just reached 31.2 °C 🌡️

Previously, 30.8 °C was the highest recorded temp in Northern Ireland, in July 1983 and June 1976

Plenty of these fellas floating off Ayrshire, judging by the number washed up on the beach today.

Jellyfish stings can be problematic for dogs, as they are for humans, and a dog’s natural curiosity can land it with a toxic impact (as you can see from Lily the Staffy trying to have a sniff).

Not all species are toxic, and the smaller Moon Jellyfish shown in the photos are not dangerous for humans or dogs. The larger Mane Jellyfish, however, are and should be avoided.

Common symptoms for dogs who have been stung can include:

• Localised Swelling & Pain
• Drooling
• Vomiting
• Breathing Impact

This is one of the many topics we cover on our dog first aid courses, available from our bases in Ayr, Gosport and Moira, Northern Ireland via enquiry to info@sustainltd.com

On the offchance anyone was in the Highlands this week, or knows someone who was, could you have a look at this police appeal?

The biker is a friend of ours, and we would appreciate your help.

Thank you!

Appeal following serious road crash – A82 Glencoe

Officers are appealing for witness to help with their investigation into a serious road crash on the A82 just north of Kingshouse, Glencoe.

The crash happened around 1.30pm on Monday, 14 June, involving a BMW motorcycle and a VW Golf car.

A 55-year-old man, the driver of the motorcycle, was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with serious injuries.

Police Constable Mary Boyd, of the Fort William Road Policing Unit, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have been around at the time of this crash, particularly anyone with dash-cam footage that could help with our collision investigation.

“If you can help please call us on 101, quoting incident number 1805 of Monday, 14 June, 2021.”

Many of us will have witnessed the collapse of footballer Christian Erikson during the weekend Denmark v Finland Euro game, who became an unconscious, non-breathing casualty and who was resusciated by the immediate use of CPR and defibrillation.

The use of Automated External Defibrillators (invented, of course, in Northern Ireland) is considered a core component of emergency first aid, and we cover when and how to use them on our range of courses, from 3 hour Basic Life Support to 3 day First Aid at Work.

Our training is available from our bases in Moira, Northern Ireland, Gosport, Hampshire and Ayr, Scotland via enquiry to info@sustainltd.com .....
