Hi all, please excuse the long post but please take the time to read as any help would be so greatly appreciated!! πŸ˜€

Our unit is increasingly growing and we have outgrown our current premises. At present we can only accommodate 20 young people at a push in this space and have an ever-growing wait-list of young people eager to join.

So we are putting out some feelers in the hopes that we can find a bigger space. If anyone knows of any schools/community spaces that would be willing to accommodate a youth group once a week on a Thursday night in the Portadown/Craigavon area suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We rely largely on fundraising and donations in order to run, as well as a small attendance fee from each cadet which we try to keep as low as possible in order to make participation accessible to all. Therefore ideally we would be looking for somewhere that would be willing to donate a space or would be willing to exchange the use of a space in exchange for us providing first aid cover at their events.

Any shares of this post would be greatly appreciated so that we can spread the word and hopefully in turn open our unit up to more young people eager to learn lifesaving skills. Many thanks in advance!! πŸ’š

We are extremely lucky to have our very own paramedic parent in Craigavon! πŸš‘

Huge thank you to Eamonn for coming along last night to talk to us. Cadets had a brilliant time seeing all the equipment paramedics carry, hearing about some very interesting calls and having a look around the ambulance. πŸš‘πŸ’š

If you suspect one of your friends has been spiked, here's what to do and what NOT to do ❌

It's a common myth that you should drink lots of water if you think you have been spiked, but this can cause vomiting and has limited effects on reversing the drugs used in spiking. Sipping water in small, but frequent quantities is recommended.

You might also think that they should try to vomit, but this could cause harm to the patient as they bring the substance up.

If you suspect a friend has been spiked, try to keep hold of what they were drinking so that this can be passed to the police for testing when reported.
