​Hi everyone! Since the clinic has been growing so much recently, I wanted to re-introduce myself and share the experience I bring to every session here at A.S.Sports Therapy & Injury Clinic

🎓 1st Class Honours Degree in Sports Science, Exercise & Rehabilitation (BSc).

Is your morning coffee ruined by a stiff, painful Achilles? 🏃‍♂️☕️

​If you feel a sharp pain or a dull ache at the back of your heel when you first get out of bed, you might be dealing with Achilles Tendinopathy.

​The "old school" advice was rest and ice, but we now know that tendons actually need load to get stronger! As a Rehab Specialist, I focus on "re-training" your tendon to handle the pressure of walking, running, and daily life.

​🏠 3 Exercises You Can Do at Home
​If you’re struggling, try these "heavy and slow" movements to start building resilience:

​1. Isometric Calf Holds (The Pain Killer) ✋
Stand on the floor and rise up onto your toes. Hold that position for 30–45 seconds.

​Why: Isometrics have a "numbing" effect on tendon pain and start building strength without irritating the area.

​2. Slow Eccentric Heel Drops 📉
Stand on the edge of a step. Rise up with both feet, then take your "good" foot off and slowly lower your "painful" heel down below the level of the step (count to 3 on the way down).

​Why: This "eccentric" loading helps the tendon fibers realign and get stronger.

​3. Bent-Knee Calf Raises 🧘‍♀️
Perform a standard calf raise but keep your knees slightly bent.

​Why: This targets the Soleus muscle, which sits deep under your main calf muscle and takes a massive amount of load when you walk or run.

​⚠️ Professional Tip: Don't "Stretch" the Pain!
​One of the biggest mistakes people make with Achilles pain is aggressive stretching. If the tendon is irritated, "pulling" on it can actually make it worse. Focus on strengthening instead!

​Tendons can be stubborn. In my Cramlington clinic, I use:

✅ Gait Analysis: To see if your footwear or walking style is the culprit.

✅ Manual Therapy: To release tight calves and improve ankle mobility.

✅ Bespoke Digital Plans: I’ll send you a video-guided plan via my app so you know exactly how many reps to do.

Back in gym yesterday returning back to strongman after 3yrs doing powerlifting.

Was good to be back doing my first love lifting weights and running with it. Thats conditioning being worked on.

​What to expect: We start with a full clinical consultation to find the root cause of your pain. This session includes your first round of manual therapy and a bespoke digital rehab plan sent to your phone via the Rehab My Patient app.

​2. Sports Therapy & Recovery (60 mins) | £45
​Best for: Post-event fatigue or heavy training blocks.

​What to expect: A deep, functional session focused on flushing out metabolic waste and restoring muscle length. Perfect for runners, rugby players, or gym-goers who need to bounce back quickly for their next session.

​3. Sports Therapy & Performance Maintenance (45 mins) | £40
​Best for: Keeping your body in "peak condition."

​What to expect: A regular "MOT" for your muscles and joints. We focus on areas of tightness before they become injuries, ensuring your mobility and power remain at 100%.

​4. Clinical Targeted Therapy (30 mins) | £30
​Best for: A specific "ni**le" or follow-up work.

​What to expect: A focused, high-impact session on one specific area (e.g., just the lower back or a single ankle). Ideal for those with a busy schedule who need a quick, professional fix.
