What a beautiful Valentine's Day we've had at Astor Court, celebrating friendship, love and togetherness. The Lovely Kay joined us for a special valentine's sing-along, filling the room with classic love songs. It was a sold-out show! We were filled to the brim with all of our residents and families who came along, it was wonderful to see. There was plenty of singing, tow tapping and even some back up dancing!

Our residents enjoyed some valentines mocktails, and the whole place was decorated to make it feel extra special. Lots of smiles and treats shared throughout the day. As it wouldn't be Valentine's Day without some chocolate!

Moments like this remind us that it isn't just about romance, its about More...Connection, memories and feeling loved. And there was certainly a lot of love in the air.

Some of our lovely residents enjoyed a group trip out on the minibus to the amazing Blue Reef Aquarium on Tynemouth sea front, and what a gorgeous morning it was.

From colourful tropical fish to fascinating sea creatures, there was so much to see and talk about. The underwater tunnel was definitely a highlight, watching the fish glide above our heads! There was lots of smiles, conversation sparks and shared memories from the different marine life. Days like these are so important, getting out in some fresh air, experiencing something new and enjoying time together.

We had a walk around and managed to catch the river monsters show, in which we got to watch feeding time for some huge fish! After that we all went for a small rest in the cafe with a nice hot drink (well deserved!) before having another walk around.

A big thank you to our staff team and Miley Tours for supporting this trip and making sure everyone had a safe, comfortable and enjoyable day. We're already looking forward to our next one!

Today at Astor it was all about Random acts of kindness day.

The Lifestyle Team brought More...Connection to the home with a variety of flowers.

Then one of our wonderful residents wanted to spread some happiness around the home. Together we made a box of kind and thoughtful quotes.

We went round all the staff & residents all taking a quote for them to keep. It was a lovely thing for one of the lovely ladies living with us to do as her act of kindness.

Those living with us had an absolute blast getting creative with a DIY slingshot game! Using a facemask and some ping-pong balls, everyone took turns aiming for different sized buckets to score points.

It was fantastic for hand-eye coordination, laughter and some good old friendly compeition to get that blood pumping. Lots of group support with clapping and cheers when the hardest bucket was scored. It sparked some amazing concentration between our residents.

Sometimes its about what you can make with what you have, this wasnt a game any of the residents had seen or played before and its safe to say it was a big hit all round.

Well done to our sharpshooters today! Who knew a mask and some ping-pong balls could bring so much fun!

Those living with us took part in a colourful coordination and More...Movement activity that was a whole lot of fun!

We placed different coloured plates on the floor; each worth different points and residents worked on their aim and coordination by throwing balloons onto the plates to score points. There were plenty of laughs and some gentle competition.

This activity is brilliant for hand-eye coordination, gentle movement, focus and confidence. With it most importantly putting big smiles on each residents faces.

Well done to our residents for giving it a go!

💗Valentines Day Special - You're Invited!💗

We're spreading the love this valentines day and would absolutely love for you to join us!

It is going to be a wonderful afternoon of music and singalong songs from the amazing Kay (who did our fabulous Christmas party and was a huge HIT with our residents), themed decorations, themed mocktails and lots of smiles. Family members, friends, loved ones and members of the local community are more than welcome to come along and celebrate the day of spreading love in all its forms.

Kay will be singing from 2-3pm - based in the downstairs dining room (for ample space to shake some hips!)

More...Socialising & More...Movement and our monthly church service which included a celebrate of Epiphany.

We enjoyed our wonderful coffee morning 🎂 with music 🎼 and lots of chatter and some delicious cakes made by our fab kitchen.

Then we had the pleasure of our local church coming in and we celebrated the New Year & did a little prayer to celebrate ⛪
Epiphany.

Then in the afternoon we had the amazing Mark Turner for a bit Music & Movement. He got us doing a bit exercise 😊
And had a fab singalong to.

A great day had by all!

✍ Bingo Bonanza! ✍

There was lots of excitement in Astor Court as both floors came together for our big game of prize bingo! This is quickly becoming one of our most popular activities for residents (as you could imagine!). Eyes down, cards ready, plenty of sweating and some laughs as our residents enjoyed the thrill of the game, friendly competition and the joy of winning prizes.

The room was full of cheerful faces, big smiles and some hearty competitive spirit. Such a lovely way to come together and create some fond memories of continuing on a tradition that most of our residents use to participate in every week before moving into residential care. Having these moments to look forward too is so important.

🎁🎅Christmas Day Joy!🎅🎁

On Christmas Day, our staff had the absolute pleasure of spreading Christmas cheer around Astor Court (replacing Santa as his schedule was rammed packed). After weeks of shopping for person centred, thoughtful and personalised items, the team went around room to room delivering gifts and sharing smiles and special moments with each resident.

It was truly a heart-warming moment of joy, surprise and gratitude on everyone's faces. A reminder that Christmas is about kindness, connection and making people feel loved. So much care and thought went into every gift, and made the day feel extra special.

A huge thank you too all the team who worked on Christmas Day! We couldn't of brought the Christmas magic without you all 🙂

A Christmas Delight!

Here at Astor court, we took on the baking club challenge of making some mini-Christmas trees to get well and truly into the Christmas spirit! We made the most adorable mini-Christmas trees out of chocolate muffins, cornflakes, lots of chocolate, sprinkles for decoration and even finished off with a star on the top!

This was something that really got our residents focus, lots of giggles and making the home smell of melted chocolate. A perfect way to spend a cosy winter afternoon together... well done to everyone on their creations. I hope they tasted as good as they looked!

We had the most wonderful afternoon celebrating our annual Christmas party, it truly couldn't of been more of a joy! A huge thank you to Kay, who was absolutely amazing and brought a great energy that the residents really bought into, from busting a move to singing along to their favourite Christmas songs the residents were all full of smiles.

Our residents really had such a lush afternoon with festive atmosphere, laughs, lots of clapping and it was especially lovely to see residents up on their feet, joining in and making memories together.

The celebrations were then topped off perfectly wit a buffet style tea party which went down a treat and rounded off a fantastic day.

Memories like these are what the festive season is all about!

Over the festive period, the lifestyle team have facilitated lots of lovely trips to Azure garden centre, giving all of our residents the opportunity to come along if they wished. From twinkling Christmas lights to beautiful decorations and festive displays, it was a wonderful way to truly soak up the Christmas spirit.

Our residents enjoyed their time looking around, choosing favourites, reminiscing on their Christmas decorations, choosing presents and even enjoying a cuppa or two! Truly enjoying soaking up the cosy Christmas atmosphere.

These trips were all about choice, inclusion and creating some meaningful moments, it was such a special time to get some 1-1 time outside of Astor court, see some many smiles and spread a little more festive cheer in time for Christmas!
