👩‍⚕️No appointment needed, come along with your new arrival (siblings are welcome too!) and chat to your midwife about your options and receive your contraception - all sorted in one visit 👍

We can offer:
☑️ Mini Pill
☑️ Contraceptive Implant
☑️ Contraceptive Injection

🤱 All of our postnatal contraception is progesterone-only and is suitable as soon as you have given birth.

I’ve had both of my babies at NSECH. I had one in 2022 and one in 2024!
I am so thankful for the team I had back in 2022 (Lindsey especially) for making sure my daughter was delivered safely after complications. She is now the happiest 3 year old! You saved us both that day you truly are a hero!

I am also thankful for the support system I had back in 2024. It was a long week and many complications but we got there in the end. Yous quite literally saved my life and I’ll always be grateful. Especially Leanne, you helped me do the most simple tasks that I couldn’t manage to do on my own, you made me laugh when I needed it the most.

The midwife’s are truly angels! Forever thankful to have chosen my births to be with yous!

My little boy was born last week via emergency csection at NSECH and can't fault any of the amazing people that looked after us. They were all so professional, caring and reassuring, turned a traumatic experience into a positive one. Special mention to midwives Ally and Themby, they were amazing. Me and baby Jax are very grateful for you all ❤️

On the 21st of June 2025 we welcomed our beautiful son Noah at NSECH. I was unexpectedly induced at 37+1 and after 8 and a half hours of labour, our boy was here. I can’t thank the incredible staff on the assessment unit, birthing centre and ward 16 enough for their care and support. Most of all I’m so grateful to our wonderful midwife that day, Caroline Bommel. Giving birth is such an overwhelming and emotional experience, but Caroline helped me stay calm, feel supported and truly listened to, while guiding me with such reassurance and empowerment. We will always be so thankful to her and the amazing team at NSECH for bringing Noah safely into the world, they’ll forever be a part of his story 🩵

💉 Seasonal flu vaccination is recommended for all pregnant women, at any gestation of pregnancy.

🦠 Being pregnant can put you at risk of being seriously ill if you get flu. Getting the vaccine helps keep you and your baby safe and helps protect your baby for the first few months after they are born.

We have 2 sessions of Aquanatal every week - all led by your lovely maternity team!

🌊 Hexham and Berwick - every Wednesday

👩‍⚕️ Come along and meet your maternity team for some gentle activity and a chat.

💙💗 In recognition of Baby Loss Awareness Week, we are highlighting how Northumbria Healthcare supports families through bereavement.

Our full-time bereavement specialist midwife role is shared between Jenny and Nira. Part of their role includes providing a supportive environment for families to meet and spend time with their babies.
