🐴Equine Facilitated practitioner 🧠Trauma informed Contact Kerry today ⬇️ kerry@healingthroughhorses.org I am a qualified equine facilitated practitioner who works with people of all ages alongside her 3 horses. I absolutely love what I do and being part of a persons journey with the horses is a complete privilege. Some who may want to learn more about themselves, those who have anxiety, depression, chronic stress, trauma and those who are neurodiverse. You do not have to have any previous experience with horses. The work we do is client led so it is your pace. One aim is to improve confidence so clients will be fully guided through the process. There is no riding element to what we do here, all activities take place on the ground. The aim is to give you the tools through interactions with the horses that you can then take into your everyday life. We explore what it feels like to get out of your head in in to your body whilst out in nature so you can calm your mind and learn new a new way to grow. Healing through horses takes self referrals and referrals through organisations.

Here you go...

A box breathing exercise for you.

👃breathe in through for the nose for 4

🛑 hold for 4

💨 breathe out of your mouth for 4

Breathing exercises such as this can really help regulate our nervous system when we are starting to feel overwhelmed. They can help bring us back to a state of calm or rest and digest 😌

This can help regulate some people, but not all people. Bringing awareness to breath can cause some people to panic so just to notice the breath rather than change it might be better for that person. Over time see if you can extend the hold and breath out, if it feels OK to do so. If not, your not broken, your body is just trying to keep yourself safe 🧡

Be kind to yourself. I am sure you are doing the best you can and good enough is worth celebrating on some days 🌻

Horses aren't always for riding, who knew?! 🤯

There are only 2 of the horses here at Healing through Horses who are ridden and thats because they still enjoy it. The other 2 don't and I'm fine with that 🙂

As individuals they deserve different programmes for social, emotional, physical and behavioural management.

Like us, the horses all have their own likes and dislikes and as a respectful horse owner I believe its important to listen. 🐴

They aren't ridden as part of the sessions I run here, they are exercised by a few close friends or family.

It was lovely to get back on, what did you do with your day in the sunshine? ☀️🌻

📵 This is your gentle reminder to stop scrolling for a moment.

Sometimes what starts as a quiet break on our phones slowly turns into a doom scroll without us even noticing. And while it can feel comforting to keep watching, reading, and distracting ourselves, your brain might actually be craving something much simpler.

A moment of nothingness.
A slow breath.
A soft smile.

So take this as your invitation to pause.
Put your phone down for just one minute.
Look around.
Breathe.
And think about something sweet or silly… just like this video.

Out here, moments like this happen naturally. The horses remind us how to slow down, soften, and be present again.

If you feel like you need more of these gentle pauses in your life, you are always welcome to reach out.

⭐️ I've been thinking about Niche a lot lately.

And here's what ive come up with.💭

I dont want to niche. I like healing through horses being a service lots of people can benefit from. I see people who have diagnosed trauma and people who don't. Children as young as 18 months to elderly over 80!

I want to give people the opportunity to come and feel the magic of spending time with horses out in nature for themselves. Young, old, able bodied or wheel chair user, mental facilties or acute dementia.
I adjust what I offer for each client within the same framework, horse led and human led.

I'm curious to know though, do you have a niche? Or not, and what are the pros and cons? 🤔

Horses only see in black and white⬛️⬜️

Wrong ❌️

They see in hues of blue 🟦 yellow 🟨 and can't see red 🟥well at all

They have the largest eye of any land mammal and can see almost 360 degrees apart from a few feet directly in front of them and directly behind. 👀

As prey animals they have incredible distance vision yet can find puddles and shadows difficult to cope with as they can't judge depth well 🐴

They also have incredible night vision - and not because of all those carrots! 😂🥕

You learn something new every day!

thanks for the photo 📸
