Please allow me to introduce the AMAZING Andrew Wood !
Andy originally joined me around 6 years ago. He lost around 3 stone only up have the wind knocked out of him by losing he beloved wife Leigh. Life became totally different for him as did his head space. We both knew he was coming for the social side, but his heart and mind wasn't on weight loss. We talked and I completely understood. Told him we would be here when he was ready. β€οΈ
Life increased to be stressful. The world threw a pandemic at us, he lost his long term job which included the home he had shared with his wife. We kept in touch but he knew to get the weight loss he deserved- he had to be ready.
Last January I got a text EVERY consultant dreams of. "I'm ready- I'll see you Wednesday!"
And boy- what a 14 month's these have been.
Andy committed fully. He lost 8.5lbs in that first week and firmly took the spot of our 7pm cheerleader. His warmth and understanding to others, through his own hardship and life learnings is unmeasurable. He's never missed a week, except for a week in Spain where he ran 3 times to limit the damage of a boys holiday.
Andy had embraced exercise, joining other members he's met through group ar various classes and is one week away for completing the Couch to 5k.
He is so welcoming to everyone, checking in with them and offering advice, congratulations or sympathy. He understands the trials we go through as slimmers- because he's been there.
When things haven't gone his way, he's made the changes needed. Aways being fascinated rather than frustrated.
On Wednesday, Andy achieved his 5 1/2 stone award and reached his personal achievement target. I can't lie, I shed a tear after we had our photo taken.
Andy really is a phoenix raising from the flames and proof that Slimming World isnt just for the ladies.
I'm proud to not only call him a member, but a friend too.β€οΈ
