Do you struggle with a fear of blood? Perhaps you may even faint at the sight of it. This is known as hemophobia or blood-injury phobia.

Extreme hemophobia can cause an unusual response in some people, not seen in other phobias. With other phobias (such as heights, spiders, or small spaces), exposure to the stimulus increases heart rate.

When someone with hemophobia is exposed to blood, this is followed by a sudden decrease in heart and blood pressure, which can lead to fainting.

This can become a vicious circle, as worrying about yourself fainting if you see blood can intensify the phobia.

Vitamin D plays a vital role in our mental well-being as it's essential for regulating:

๐Ÿ’œ Decreasing the risk of depression.

This is particularly important for those of us who struggle with low mood or SAD during the winter. From October to March, when sunlight isn't strong enough for our bodies to make the Vitamin D we need, we can look to our diets or supplements to give us a boost!

Salmon, tuna, egg yolks, mushrooms, and milk are good sources, as well as fortified foods such as cereals and non-dairy milk alternatives. It is also available as a supplement if you can't get enough of it through diet alone. ๐ŸŸ

Used in combination with other tools like regular exercise, reducing alcohol consumption, and getting outdoors Vitamin D can be a good way to tackle the winter blues.

Forget Blue Monday... today is Brew Monday!

There's a myth that today is the 'most depressing day of the year'. Whether that's true or not, winter blues are real, and one way to combat them is to reach out to friends, family, or colleagues for a catch-up.

Even just a simple chat over a cuppa can promote simple, real connection. It could also be just what someone in your life really needed!

So reject Blue Monday and pop the kettle on!

I'm sure many of us have tried to start the new year with a new diet, only to fail before the end of the month. We get ourselves trapped into an endless cycle of yo-yo dieting and 'I'll start on Monday' that inevitably lead to feelings of anxiety and failure.

So it's the start of a new year. You've probably been hearing lots about New Year's Resolutions... maybe you even have your own!

Whilst this can be a great way to motivate you, the word 'New' in 'New Year' places a lot of focus and pressure on starting over.

What's more, failing to adhere to a resolution can leave you feeling deflated and low.

Instead, start your year with positivity and make a resolution focused on self-care rather than burdening yourself with ones that may cause stress and anxiety.

It also helps to choose a specific, measurable goal, such as 'reducing my weight by 5lbs' rather than 'losing some weight'.

Set yourself rewards and targets for achieving milestones, but don't punish yourself if you need extra time or help. We're only human after all. Accept that there may be bumps in the road; instead of letting them knock you back, take them as challenges to rise up to!

You can do this! ๐Ÿ’œ
