Sometimes, I like to think of my sessions like a drop-off point for people to bring me their problems and worries and go home without them.

Here are a few anxieties that my clients have left with me recently:

Do you struggle with negative self-talk, overthinking, and "What If" Anxiety?

Not only are these unhelpful patterns of behaviour a huge waste of our precious time and energy, but they can also leave us feeling overwhelmed, panicked, short of breath, and lightheaded.

Think how awesome you would feel without your anxiety, in control and happy.

Some clients have come to me asking for help with these problems specifically, and others have come with something completely different. I have pointed out that this could stop, too.

This is the second month in a row we've had a Friday the 13th!

If you have an intense fear or superstition about the number 13 (including Friday the 13th), you aren't alone.

The phobia is known as Triskaidekaphobia and is common, especially in Western Cultures. Hotels, buildings, and even theatres often do not include a 13th floor, room, or seat for this very reason.

One of the biggest barriers to people starting therapy is worrying about the time and/or financial commitment of a long series of sessions (in some cases over months or even years!) โŒ›

During an initial free, no-obligation phone consultation, I will advise you of your likely commitment, and during sessions, I'll always be open and honest about how many sessions may still be needed.

For most of my clients, this can be as few as one, two or three sessions, depending on the issues being addressed.

There are many reasons why people self-harm - anxiety, depression, self-loathing, or as a way to escape. Please ask for help.

It can often feel like our entire lives revolve around food, which means when we struggle with eating, it can be all the more isolating and challenging to overcome.

Overeating, binging, purging, restrictive eating, food aversion, and the need to stick to โ€˜safe foodsโ€™ can all lead to poor food choices that can be detrimental to your health.

Eating disorders might cause you to feel embarrassed or uncomfortable eating in front of others and have a significant impact on your mental well-being, as anxiety around eating takes up so much of your time and energy.

There's a common misconception that eating disorders only affect young women, but that's not true. Eating disorders can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or circumstances.

They can be caused by:
A past event
Poor belief system
Perceived pressure to look a certain way
Body dysmorphia
Or form part of broader conditions like OCD

It can be incredibly hard to take the first step towards freedom and recovery, but I'm here to help ๐Ÿ’œ
