We see September’s Full Moon on the 7th. A total lunar eclipse will cast a glow over the Moon, making it appear fiery red. Although in the UK the eclipse will begin while the Moon is still below the horizon, it will rise in total eclipse at around 19:30pm as the Earth’s shadow covers the Moon.
It is an opportunity for introspection as it comes when we are experiencing a change in season. This is a time to pause, reflect and release, as well as celebrating our achievements from the year so far. We are invited to turn inward, embrace change and trust in the unseen forces shaping our lives.
It is thought that eclipse season is a time that illuminates what has been hidden and guides us towards necessary transformation.
Lunar eclipses often bring closure and insight, showing us truths we may have been avoiding.
This particular eclipse takes place in Pisces, the mystical and intuitive water sign ruled by Neptune. Pisces energy is deeply connected to emotions, spirituality and the subconscious, making this eclipse a great time to dive into the depths of our inner world. Themes of dreams, intuition and emotional healing will be especially strong, offering us a profound opportunity to release old wounds, outdated beliefs, and lingering fears.
Pisces is also the sign of surrender and faith, reminding us that not everything needs to be controlled or understood in the moment. The energy of this eclipse may feel intense, even disorienting, as it brings deep emotions to the surface. However, it is ultimately guiding you toward clarity, renewal, and alignment with our higher selves. 🙏

Summer wanted to bow out today,
She said she had given her best,
But now it was time for a change,
And she was going away for a rest.

Autumn was waiting in the wings,
But reluctant to step in quite yet,
She blew a few leaves from the trees
And told Summer there was no need to fret.

Summer looked around her,
And saw that there was still time,
To have one last, little, blast
As the sun continued to shine.

Autumn let Summer continue,
knowing it wouldn't be long,
Until she could take to the stage,
but to appear too soon would be wrong.

So Summer and Autumn agreed,
That they would work together,
Until Summer had seen out her days,
And Autumn could determine the weather.

So, in the next couple of weeks,
You'll see, Summer exhibit her final show,
Whilst Autumn showcases her new colours,
As into September we go ..

The New Moon on Saturday 23rd August, in the sign of Virgo, carries strong energies for new beginnings and self-improvement.
Fresh approaches to our routines, work and well-being may come more easily. It is a powerful time to plant seeds of intention for what we wish to create in our lives over the next month and beyond.
Virgo is an Earth sign known for connection to organisation, health and daily routines. This New Moon supports us in making positive changes and to focus on what truly matters, creating a foundation for long-lasting improvements.
Virgo is also associated with healing and a desire for purity. We are invited to release old patterns, beliefs or habits that may be hindering our growth and progress. It's a time to cleanse, both literally and metaphorically, creating space for new, healthier energy to enter our lives.
While moving towards our new routines or habits, we will do well to remain flexible and embrace surprising twists and turns. We may need to be adaptable, open to new perspectives and welcome opportunities for growth and change.
Virgo is connected to our physical health and the mundane aspects of life. This New Moon encourages us to pay attention to our well-being: diet, exercise, rest and daily habits. Even small, practical changes can have a significant impact on our overall health and vitality.
We can enjoy this late summer opportunity to rejuvenate and prepare ourself for the month ahead.

For those who don’t know me, I thought I should give a bit of background about myself…
The practice of yoga has been part of my life since 2010. It has brought me greater trust (in myself and the universe), easier acceptance (of myself and others) and increased strength. 🙏Yoga is a tool for soothing the mind, caring for the body and finding moments of calm. 💚
Physically, my practice has changed over the years, but it always feels good to be ‘on the mat’.
I have a degree in Education and completed my 300 hour yoga teacher training at Lime House Yoga in 2019. My teachers were wonderful: Jock Orton is hugely knowledgeable around anatomy and alignment, and he has an awe-inspiring physical practice. Lucinda Pimlott also has a superb depth of knowledge of anatomy and a strong, yet compassionate practice. She is one of the most beautiful Earth angels I have ever met. Her teachings around yoga philosophy, meditation and moon cycles are special and I hope I will have an opportunity to learn lots more from her in the future.💕
I had always worked in Education and special needs, but my role as a Health Champion for Cornwall Council enabled me to start leading yoga classes for colleagues. In 2022, I side stepped into the world of Health. This new role allowed me to explore health promotion in a wider sense, working in the community and in schools, while continuing to teach yoga several times a week.🥰
Prior to the pandemic, whilst running The Hevlas Tea Gardens from our home in Crantock, I also started Hevlas Health & Wellbeing, offering individual sessions as well as bespoke, intimate day retreats in beautiful surroundings. In Cornish, ‘Penhevla’ (our house name) translates to ‘head of the river’, ‘Hevla’ referring to ‘river’. As an Earth sign, I am drawn to water and rivers hold significant spiritual meanings in various cultures, so this seemed an appropriate name. Rivers are often seen as metaphors for the flow of life, their continual movement can symbolise adaptability, the journey of life and quest for knowledge/enlightenment.💕
I feel passionately that yoga can be accessible to all…young people, older people, people of all shapes and sizes, and from all socio-economic backgrounds. Diversity and our uniqueness can be embraced. One of the highlights of my working week is a free community yoga class, with people ranging in age from 6-60, our strengths and differences are fully accepted. The room is always filled with love, fun and gratitude.🙏
My classes include a strong focus on pranayama – the power and regulation of the breath. The poses we practice vary according to: the needs of the practitioners, the seasons in nature and the moon cycle. 🌸
I often refer to the Chakras (a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel’, the energy points in our bodies). I also like to explore Ayurveda (a complimentary health system using a mind-body-spirit approach). Through awareness of Dosha (body type), our lifestyle, nutrition and self-care practices, we can move closer to optimal health and well-being.💚
I look forward to sharing the joy of yoga with you, either in person or online. 😊
