A lot of the time procrastination is your brain feeling fear of the unknown 🧠

Want to apply for a new job but keep doom scrolling instead?? You know a new job would be great but your brain puts up all the barriers - thinking “what if I don’t get an interview?” “What if I fail?” 🤯

You know you want to feel fitter, healthier & lose those extra lbs but you make excuses not to do the exercise. It’s your brain thinking “what if I won’t stick to it?” “What if it’s really hard?” 🤯

When you can begin to understand that your brain always works from a place of safety & comfort then you can start to push against that & remind yourself of the WHY 🥹 WHY do you want a new job? WHY do you want to get fit? These WHYs will help you push through that safety zone & get you achieving what you want to achieve 💪🏾

Yesterday I woke up & felt a bit bleurgh 🫩

You know those mornings where you can’t put your finger on it but you’d just quite like to stay in bed & ignore everything 😏

Well I didn’t. Because I didn’t want to feel like that anymore. So I put my big girl pants on & a whole face of makeup & I went about my day as planned 📆

As a hypnotherapist I know how the brain works & I knew full well today my brain would be looking for every single negative so it could prove that it was right about me feeling low (crazy but it’s neuroscience) 🧠

So I decided to make a conscious effort of looking for the positives, the small wins in order to lift me out of my “get your violins out” mood

And there they were, popping out at me all over the shop ☺️ A perfect car parking space, giggles with my friend…and then to top it off a FREE coffee (I had enough points but didn’t even realise) & a lovely little message written on the top of the cup 💖

If I’d have stayed in my bad mood then these little things wouldn’t have even been given the gratitude they deserved 🫶🏼 But instead they lifted me, gave me a strong injection of happy hormones & turned what could have been a poopey day into a lovely one 😍

Look for the negatives - your brain will find them 😫
Look for the positives - your brain will find them 🤩

I regularly talk to my clients about protecting themselves from negative energy & negative people 🛡️

Some people are just negative. It doesn’t make them a bad person but for someone working on their mental health being around a negative drain can really pull them back 🤦🏻‍♀️

We don’t have to exclude negative people from our lives (sometimes we don’t have the choice - family members, work colleagues…) However we can be super protective of ourselves when we’re around them & just put up our bubble 🫧

Unlike with Glinda, no one needs to know about your bubble - it is your secret shield to deflect any negative energy that comes your way so you can stay sparkly, positive & bloomin’ amazing underneath it 🤩

A new year doesn’t have to mean a new you (despite what social media tells you!) 🤯

But what it can suggest is a fresh opportunity to set yourself a new goal or challenge…

Something small, manageable & easy to fit into your life 😃

Making a promise to yourself & seeing it through not only gives you a sense of achievement but helps to increase your self-trust & self-worth 🫶🏼

How often do you ask for help? 🙄

If the answer is never, or very rarely then start to think of ways that you can reach out to others to make your life a bit easier 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Reaching out & talking can really help to ease the burdens…whether that be mentally or physically 🥹

I always tell my clients that they are only human…so please remind yourself of this & seek out the support you need 🫶🏼

My door is always open if the support you seek is a friendly, caring, encouraging & non-judgemental 💖

How do you speak to yourself??….seriously…how do you speak to yourself?? 🫣

Are you harsh, critical & negative? 🤬
Or are you kind, loving, supportive & encouraging? 🫶🏼

Words & thoughts have such a powerful impact on our mindset & how we feel so why not make those words & thoughts positive? 🤔

Speak to yourself as you would do to a friend or loved one & see what that does to your mood & your confidence levels 🤩

One word - REST 🛌

Not only do we need to rest physically but it is so important to rest for our mental health 🧠

You wouldn’t keep running on a treadmill for hours on end so why do you expect your brain to do the same? 😤

Take a break. Put the to-do list in the drawer for an hour and forget about it. Do something nice for you 💖

We run so much more effectively when we have a full battery 🔋

Appreciating the good things in your life, no matter how small, works wonders for maintaining a positive mindset 🤩

A perfect cup of coffee ☕️
A funny tv programme 📺
Stroking a cute dog 🐶
Finding a fiver in your coat pocket 💰
The rain stopping just as you step out the car 🚗
…..the list can go on and on and on…

The more you start seeking the positives the more you will notice them! And the more you notice them the happier your day gets! It really does WORK! 🙌🏼

How often do you find yourself saying “yes” to things when inside you’re screaming “noooo”? 🤯

Setting personal boundaries is incredible for your mental wellbeing. They have the ability to free you from stress whilst at the same time build your inner confidence & self-worth 💪🏾

And also just a note…Boundaries really aren’t selfish - in fact they bring clarity & consistency to situations not only for you, but for others involved 🫶🏼
