World Hand Hygiene Day – 5 May 🧼

Ahead of World Hand Hygiene Day on 5 May, this years focus is Action Saves Lives.
We are highlighting the vital role hand hygiene plays in keeping everyone safe.
Clean hands are one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent spreading germs and infection.

✅ Use soap and water when hands are visibly soiled, after toileting, and after coughing or sneezing into your hands
✅ Always wash hands before eating
✅ Use alcohol hand rub / sanitiser when appropriate

Tilgate Park turns 60 this year, and we’re celebrating with a special anniversary trail from 1 May to 31 August 2026.

Across the park, we’ve scattered a series of letters - from the lakeside to the gardens, the zoo, the cafés and all the places that make Tilgate Park so special. Follow the trail, find every marker, solve the final clue, and you’ll be able to enter our 60th Anniversary Prize Draw.

As part of the celebrations, we’re also inviting you to share your favourite moments in our Memories of Tilgate Park photo competition. Whether it’s a childhood adventure, a family tradition, or a quiet moment by the lake, we’d love to see the photos and stories that have shaped your connection to the park.

Details for the trail and competition can be found here: https://orlo.uk/bLhxo

We look forward to seeing you at the park very soon!

Stress is something many people deal with, and it can sometimes influence our drinking habits.

Reaching for a drink might feel like it helps in the moment, but often the underlying need might be something different: rest, connection, a break, or time to recharge.

Recognising what you actually need when you’re feeling stressed can help you find healthier ways to cope and support your wellbeing.
