Sometimes we can forget that the person who is always there helping everyone else needs help too...

But, because they are always helping everyone they won't necessarily tell you they are struggling.

We may not even notice that they aren;t committing to meeting up, because they cannot manage anything else right now...

Those people will appreciate some love and care more if they don't have to request it... because they wouldn't take away from you

A conversation that I frequently have, whether in my therapy office, or when talking at events or delivering training, is about steps that we can take to boost our own mental health.

The problem is, that the word 'self-care' os often interpreted as being about bubble baths - when in actual fact it is about the day to day steps we can take to check in with ourselves and keep our well-being in check.

So, I'm sharing 8 simple steps you can start at home today....

When our mental health declines, it can feel overwhelming, scary and quite exhausting. Our instincts can sometimes tell us to hide, act out or to seek out comfort seeking behaviours. However, sometimes, our instincts offer us solutions which increase the struggles that we are experiencing, and as su...

Just because time has passed it does not mean you have 'dealt with it'

Often situations that affected us months or even years ago repeatedly come up and affect us without us even directly thinking about them BECAUSE your brain needs support it processing them.

Traditional talk therapies rarely sever the emotional connections to these old situations so they repeatedly come back and affect us. Which is why I focussed on training in techniques that put them to rest

Because life really is too short to be upset or angry all the time

Having first started working with children over 25 years ago (ouch now I feel old) there's a big reason I started the Adventures of Brian.....

I meet so many children in therapy who really need a helping hand to explore feelings, and Brian is a big part of that

Children who are taught to talk about how they feel and develop emotional intelligence grow into adults who can.....

Brian just helps children and parents find the right words or opportunities
