Five years that changed menopause and why Champions still matter everywhere 😀
In the last five years, menopause has stepped out of the shadows and into the mainstream. Awareness has grown, policies have shifted, and new treatments have arrived.
We’re proud that Menopause Experts Group (MEG) has been a purpose-led force in this movement, spearheading education, practical resources, and inclusive training that people can put to work immediately.
What’s changed, and why it matters:
• Access got easier. Prescription costs for HRT were cut, with a prepayment certificate saving women hundreds each year.
• A world-first non-hormonal option arrived. Fezolinetant (Veozah) opened a new pathway for those who can’t or prefer not to use hormones.
• Over-the-counter help became available. Gina vaginal tablets can now be bought from pharmacies without a prescription.
• Guidelines moved forward. NICE updated its menopause guideline, setting clearer standards of care.
• Workplaces woke up. Employers began taking menopause seriously, recognising that supporting midlife health is a business essential, not a “nice-to-have.”
• The conversation went global. WHO, the International Menopause Society and national health bodies stepped up with clear, accessible information to replace myths with evidence.
What hasn’t changed and why we still push
Progress is real, but not equal. Many still face barriers to care, patchy supply, and inconsistent understanding. Too many women feel unheard or unsupported. That’s why our work continues.
Why we’re proud of MEG
From day one, we set out to educate, equip and include. We’ve built CPD-accredited training, toolkits and “Menopause Approved” product guidance so professionals can support people with confidence. We’ve stayed evidence-led and inclusive of everyone who can experience menopause.
Why Champions are still invaluable everywhere
Being a Champion isn’t just about boardrooms or HR policies. In fact, most of our Champions are individual practitioners, coaches, and community leaders who are:
• Encouraging and empowering women at ground level giving them confidence, language, and a safe space to share their stories.
• Normalising the conversation in GP surgeries, gyms, community groups, small businesses, schools, and coaching sessions.
• Closing the care gap by signposting to credible resources when healthcare is slow or inconsistent.
• Offering inclusion and compassion to every person who experiences menopause, regardless of background, gender identity or circumstances.
• Sustaining momentum, making sure menopause doesn’t slip back into silence once the headlines fade.
Our commitment
We’ll keep standing with you, curating the evidence, updating resources, and amplifying your voices. The next five years can deliver even better care, stronger communities, and fewer barriers, because Champions like you turn awareness into action every single day.
✨ This movement only works because of you. Together, we’re changing the menopause landscape, for good.
