The home specialises in encouraging each resident to remain as independent as possible within a safe environment. All rooms are individually decorated and residents are encouraged to personalise their room by bringing pictures, photographs and small items of furniture. The award-winning garden is peaceful and sheltered. Raised beds enable residents to tend their own vegetables and flowers. The care team are trained to provide person-centred care that reflect the needs of each individual resident. Individual care plans are reviewed monthly, or more frequently if necessary, and any changes are assessed and passed on to the care team for immediate implementation. Fees are based on the assessed care needs of each resident, allowing Hillbrow to provide a highly personalised service with fees that accurately reflect the dependency and needs of each individual. For those who live alone in Crediton or the surrounding area Hillbrow House provide a 'Lunch Club' every day of the week. This provides a wonderful forum for discussion between visitors and residents who are thereby kept up to date with what is happening in the locality. Some decide to stay for the afternoon to join in activities or share interests with the residents. Equally, residents invite their families and friends to join them for a meal. This gives everyone the feeling that they are in control and that they can talk directly to the kitchen and dining room staff. Day Care is available for a limited number of clients who live in their own home. They join the home to socialise, have a bath and enjoy a meal in the dining room.
