Eden Team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals

Eden Team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals The Eden Team are a group of midwives at Leighton Hospital who provide care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period.

Oak Team are a group of midwives working for Leighton Hospital (MCHT) in Cheshire. We are a group of 8 midwives split into two groups of 4. We provide continuity of care to women - with the aim that women know the midwife that is caring for them throughout pregnancy, in labour and during the postnatal period. We work an on call service in order to provide care for women wishing to home birth 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We absolutely love it when families we have previously cared for remember us around their little one's birthday and seeing little updates as to how much their baby has grown.

Recently we have been contacted by a family whose little one was born at home almost 4 years ago with the Oak Team and they wanted to make a special mention to their Midwives Sarah Chell and Kris Reilly for their beautifully positive birthing experience.

Please join us in wishing beautiful Willow a Happy Birthday as she turns 4 at the beginning of September 💚✨️🥳

We have recently had some beautiful feedback from a family who was cared for by Eden Team who wanted to share their birth story and experience of Eden Team.

Huge congratulations from all of us at Eden Team 💚✨️..

"We want to say a HUGE thank you to the Eden team - and, in particular, to Sam for looking after me so well in all my appointments and to Emma for safely delivering our beautiful baby girl.

Orla Olivia was born happy and healthy at home on 23rd July, weighing 8 pounds 10. After a difficult experience with our first born in January 2023, we were feeling apprehensive about trying again for a home birth - but the Eden team consistently put our minds at ease.

I went into natural labour at 7am, 40+5 weeks. By 4pm, we asked the Eden team to come out as my contractions were stronger and regular. At 5pm, Emma did an examination and I was 5cm dilated, which I was really pleased about! I thought we still had a few hours to go though, so we set Emma up in the living room with Netflix and a soft drink - but, in the end, Netflix never got past the welcome screen…!

By 6pm, I felt the urge to push and my waters went at 6.05pm. We got into the birth pool at 6.10pm and Orla was born after 4 more contractions… at 6.29pm!

Everything was calm and exactly how we wanted it. After delivery, my husband cut the cord, I had lovely skin to skin time in the pool and, a couple of hours later, we introduced our toddler to her baby sister, which was amazing.

By 9.30pm, we were eating pizza and drinking champagne with my family. We went to sleep in our own bed at 11pm, ready to start life as a family of four.

As the last stage of labour happened so quickly, Emma had to deliver our baby without a second midwife present - but she was calm, confident, composed and in control throughout…which kept us calm, too.

We couldn’t have wished for a better or more healing home birth experience, after what happened during our first birth.

Personally, I couldn’t have done it without my husband and my mum, who were the perfect birth partner team, always there with reassuring words, cold flannels for my head & strong hands to hold.

We are still on cloud 9 and enjoying our baby bubble! Thank you again to the Eden Team 🩷"

Some wonderful feedback for the Eden Team.

We wanted to send a huge thank you to everyone in the Eden team who helped us have a wonderful home birth and pregnancy experience after a later loss. We’ll never forget the care and support offered to us in the later stages of the pregnancy and days leading up to induction and birth especially when it all felt a bit real - from Mia, Lyndsey, Shereena and especially Michelle (supported by Paige) for bringing our little boy into the world safely at home. From the bottom of our hearts - thank you from The Carter Family

Some wonderful feedback for the Eden team 🌿

hello lovely ladies, I just wanted to send some feedback after the birth of our beautiful daughter on the 26th Feb.

I was planning a home birth for my third baby, and was being looked after by the Eden team. My waters broke on Monday 24th at 2pm but I hadn't gone into labour by 24 hours later so I had to prepare myself for an induction, something I had been anxious about happening.

However when I arrived at labour ward I was immediately put at ease, still being looked after by Eden team. I was given a pessary but due to my waters still leaking it just fell out. It was time to go on the drip and I thought my dream of labouring in a pool was over along with my home birth.

I was wrong as the wonderful Paige, Charlotte and student midwife Amber were determined to make my experience positive so they got me into the labour room with the birth pool and I laboured over 18 hours peacefully with the best support.

When it came to pushing I knew something wasn't right I wasn't able to move my baby, she was in a strange position and wasn't able to turn. The midwives listened to my concern and followed my instinct, advocating for me the whole time.

I ended up in emergency theatre with a section and a few blood transfusions but my baby was delivered healthy and happy.

Although my birth was an unexpected outcome it was still a positive experience and this was solely down to the Eden team and their approach in supporting me, holding my hand and coming to find me on the ward the next day to give me a hug!

I will never forget and will always be grateful to the ladies for giving me the positive delivery I had for my final baby.
Meet Bowen Belle Robertson 8lb 11oz.
