WHITE SPOTS ON NAILS
White spots on nails, known as leukonychia, are most often the result of minor mechanical injuries to the nail matrix or improper nail care, such as overly aggressive manicures ✂️
They can also be a sign of vitamin and mineral deficiencies—especially zinc, calcium, iron, or B vitamins—and may be linked to malnutrition or a monotonous diet 💊
Leukonychia may also occur due to contact with chemicals, nail polishes, or detergents, as well as allergic reactions to products used during manicures 💅
What should you do?
☝️ Single white spots usually do not require treatment—they grow out with the nail
☝️ It’s worth maintaining a balanced diet and limiting exposure to chemicals during nail care
☝️ If the spots appear frequently, are numerous, or do not disappear, it’s important to observe the nails closely and pay attention to any additional changes
White spots are a subtle signal from the body—most are harmless, but recurring changes are worth monitoring 👩‍⚕️
Have you noticed such changes on your nails?

🦶 Athlete’s Foot – more common than you think
Athlete’s foot is a frequent condition I see as a podiatrist.
It causes itching, redness, peeling skin and discomfort, especially between the toes.
It develops in warm, moist environments such as gyms, pools and saunas.
If left untreated, it can spread to the toenails, making treatment more difficult.
👩‍⚕️ Early diagnosis and professional care make a real difference.
If you notice changes on your feet — don’t ignore them.
Healthy feet start with proper care 👣

🦶 Fungal Infection – when the cause goes deeper than the nail itself

After a detailed consultation and medical history interview with our client, we discovered an important factor.
The client spends 8–12 hours a day standing at work and has a habit of lifting her big toes upward.

What does this cause?
👉 Constant pressure on the nail plate
👉 Repeated micro-trauma to the nails
👉 Continuous stress and compression of the nail plate

This type of long-term mechanical trauma weakens the nail and creates the perfect environment for fungal infection to develop.

❗ That’s why effective treatment is not only about treating the symptoms, but about finding and eliminating the root cause.
Without addressing the cause, even the best products may not bring long-lasting results.

🧠 Awareness + proper care + habit correction = successful therapy

If you work long hours on your feet or notice changes in your nails, don’t ignore the early signs.

👣 Why do painful corns develop? A real case from the clinic

In the photo you can see the foot of a client with transverse flatfoot. This is a very common condition that affects many people.

🔍 What happens with transverse flatfoot?
In a healthy foot, the metatarsal bones form a natural arch that distributes body weight evenly.
With transverse flatfoot, this arch collapses and the bones drop downward. As a result:

body weight is not distributed properly,

areas of excessive pressure develop,

in this case, the entire load is concentrated in one single spot.

⚠️ The result?
A painful corn with a hard core forms, which:

causes pain while walking,

interferes with daily comfort,

will keep returning if only the symptom is treated and not the cause.

✅ Removing the corn alone is not enough.
To prevent recurrence, it is necessary to: ✔ professionally remove the lesion,
✔ properly offload the pressure,
✔ use well-fitted orthotic insoles,
✔ wear appropriate footwear.
