WHITE SPOTS ON NAILS
White spots on nails, known as leukonychia, are most often the result of minor mechanical injuries to the nail matrix or improper nail care, such as overly aggressive manicures ✂️
They can also be a sign of vitamin and mineral deficiencies—especially zinc, calcium, iron, or B vitamins—and may be linked to malnutrition or a monotonous diet 💊
Leukonychia may also occur due to contact with chemicals, nail polishes, or detergents, as well as allergic reactions to products used during manicures 💅
What should you do?
☝️ Single white spots usually do not require treatment—they grow out with the nail
☝️ It’s worth maintaining a balanced diet and limiting exposure to chemicals during nail care
☝️ If the spots appear frequently, are numerous, or do not disappear, it’s important to observe the nails closely and pay attention to any additional changes
White spots are a subtle signal from the body—most are harmless, but recurring changes are worth monitoring 👩⚕️
