The aim of this sanctuary is to bring together a number of teachers/instructors to use their talents and expertise in classes encompassing all quiet varieties – Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Meditation, and much more. In turn bringing awareness to the community – a taste of different styles, levels, teachers, at different times of the day, so that there will ultimately be “something suitable for everybody”.

Yoga can be very simple in practice, but also provide immense benefits. Take this pose for example - Pyramid Pose (Parsvottanasana).

Even at the most basic level, demonstrated here by Shelley, the pose provides a deep stretch to the hamstrings, calves and hips alongside an improvement in balance & a strengthening of the legs.

Over time, the amount you can hinge at the hips will increase and your upper body will lower further towards your front leg. You may even reach the point where you can place your hands on props such as yoga blocks, or even the floor.

We stabilise from our centre, manipura chakra, building fire, will power and confidence rather than letting gravity pull us down to the ground.

A message from our wonderful Yoga with Traditional Chinese Medicine teacher - Mandy 🙏

Last Thursday at 11am in Yoga with Traditional Chinese medicine we explored the emotional aspect of the wood element, anger. We used movement in our asana practice, as a way to “let off some steam”.
Although this can be a powerful technique for some, we are all different and what works for one person may not work for another☯️

This Thursday at 11am we will explore a different approach. When we are angry we are activating our bodies sympathetic nervous system, our flight or fight response. It’s our stress response, it’s active. Ideally we want to spend more of our time in our parasympathetic nervous system. Our rest and digest. Calmness. But of course not all our time! Through a TCM lens there always the idea of a fluid system, where everything works in harmony. In the nervous system it’s a flexible balance between action and rest.

Using gentle movement in a mainly mat based class we will stimulate the meridians of the liver and gallbladder 🌳more on their roles in class this Thursday at 11am🧘🏼‍♀️☯️

LATH - Looking After The Homeless

🍲Food bank donations 🍲

For the last 2 years, Shelley and her family have helped make cakes for the homeless on Christmas day. At the beginning of this year, Shelley spoke with Barbra (one of the volunteers) for the charity. She explained that they run twice weekly drop ins, where they provide food, clothing, assistance and advice. The charity is 100% staffed by volunteers, so help from the community is welcomed.

We now have a 'Food Collection Bin' in reception where you can pop dried goods (list of priority goods is on the bin). If each of us gave 1 item a week, imagine how this would help this incredible charity 🙏🏼
