A space few of us want to think about — but one that matters deeply to families ❤️

A mortuary is often the last place people want to imagine visiting. Yet for many families, it is where they spend precious final moments with their loved one.

Through the End of Life Care Fund, Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity has supported improvements to the family visiting area of the mortuary at Leighton Hospital, helping create a calmer, more welcoming space that offers privacy, dignity and care at an incredibly difficult time.

We’re proud to be supported by Nationwide as they take part in All Our Hearts Day, helping raise vital funds to support end of life care for patients and their loved ones across Mid Cheshire.

Nationwide shared that supporting All Our Hearts Day reflects values of compassion, kindness and community, and recognises the vital role NHS staff play in caring for colleagues, customers and local families at some of life’s most important and challenging moments.

Supporting comfort, dignity and togetherness when it matters most ❤️

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity has helped fund a range of improvements to end of life care in our hospitals, supporting both patients and their loved ones at the most difficult times.

This includes:
- Comfort packs for loved ones who find themselves staying in hospital unexpectedly
- Sleeper chairs, allowing relatives to stay close to the bedside during final days and nights
- Memory-making items, helping families create precious keepsakes and moments together
- Funding a Volunteer Co-ordinator, for End of Life volunteers to provide company and support

Together, these small but meaningful touches help bring comfort, reassurance and dignity to patients and families when every moment counts.

💙 A huge THANK YOU to the incredible team from Ward 3 💙

We want to say the biggest thank you to the wonderful Ward 3 team who went above and beyond by taking part in the Northwich Dragon Boat Race 🐉🚣‍♀️ and tackling the Three Peaks Challenge ⛰️

Through their determination, teamwork and sheer hard work, they have raised an absolutely incredible £5,789.54 👏✨

This is an amazing achievement and a real testament to their dedication not only to fundraising, but to the patients and families they support every single day.

Thank you all for your passion, commitment and for making such a huge difference. We are so proud of you 💙

Care doesn’t stop at the hospital doors ❤️

Thanks to your support, Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity helps fund complementary therapies for people at the end of their lives in their own homes.

These therapies can relieve symptoms and comfort — helping patients feel calmer and supported, surrounded by the people and in the place they love most.
This service is entirely funded by donations and without urgent funding cannot continue.
