For the past 5 years, the wonderful Jo Kirman has been hand-making bonding hearts and memory bags for families on Leighton Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) 💜

Using fabric from old ward curtains, Jo creates these special keepsakes to bring comfort to parents during some of the toughest moments. Her journey began through personal connections to NICU – and she’s never stopped giving back.

✨ Jo shared:
“It was so humbling to meet a mum and her little boy who thanked me for the hearts and bags – it really inspires me to keep making more. The nurses do an amazing job, along with all the staff supporting them.”

We’re so grateful to Jo for her kindness, creativity, and dedication. Her handmade gifts remind families that they are never alone 💜

A huge thank you and congratulations to NHS Community Nurse and Project Manager Claire, who has raised over £1,686! 🎉

With her colleagues cheering her on, Claire bravely shaved her hair to support Community Complementary Therapies for end-of-life patients at home — a service that offers calming treatments such as reflexology and massage to ease symptoms for those at the end of life who wish to spend their final days at home.

This vital service is above and beyond NHS provision, and we are incredibly proud to fund it. 💙

Our knitted hearts help connect people at the end of life with the loved ones they leave behind. Today, this amazing lady donated her 106th heart to us — each one made with love by our incredible local knitting community.
