Meningitis B vaccine is only currently available to babies offered at 8weeks, 12 weeks and completing at 12-13months. This programme has been running for 10-11years.
University students will NOT be vaccinated against Men B for this reason. Whilst revision of the current vaccination programme is being considered in light of recent events, at the moment the practice is not able to offer men b vaccination.
Meningitis ACW&Y is currently offered to school children (year9) and can be offered aged 13-25 years of age. If you believe you are eligible (aged 13yrs-25yrs) for the MenACW&Y and would like a vaccine you can make a routine appointment.
Anyone wishing to source the Men B vaccine would need to do so privately.
We will of course up date patients should the programme widen.
Patients should make themselves aware of the symptoms of meningitis and whilst there aren't currently confirmed cases in Wales, any students preparing to travel back from affected areas for Easter should remain vigilant
