I have a slight obsession with reading books! Especially about Nature. I was at a birthday party on Saturday with my children and we popped into the Glasgow museum and in the book selection there was a display of books about trees!
So obviously I took photographs of all the books, some I have and others I added them to my list of books to buy.
But, this one stood out as I love trees in Winter, as the light dims the silhouettes of trees under the pink skies just look so beautiful!
This book is filled with illustrations of Winter trees and how the author Richard Shimell connects with the world around him finding creativity in nature.
Winter is nearly upon us, and I am stocked up with lots of nature books to read.
This is why I love Winter, a time to slow down, a time for creativity, reading and slow walks in nature admiring the beautiful Winter trees.

Slow Saturday's

Today was spent slowly collecting some materials to create a Winter Wreath. This is the time for some creativity, gathering foliage in my basket, and having fun.
I hope your weekend is full of the things that make you happy.

Winter Mindful Wellbeing walks

As we move closer towards the season of Winter, the darkness can sometimes be difficult for some. The lack of sunshine can affect mode and energy, leaving people feeling depressed.
Getting outside into nature can help improve mood, noticing the beauty of Winter and incorporating some mindfulness in nature can have many benefits.
This Winter join me for an opportunity to connect with nature and learn how embracing the darkness and Winter can support your Winter wellbeing.
More details will follow shortly!

Bringing in the light!

As the nights get darker, I love to bring in the light, warm up my home and coorie in. I feel the shift to slow down and get creative.
Today was a perfect day to forage some fallen sticks, gather up all my pine cones, dig deep for some old festive decorations and add some branches and twinkly lights.
Like every year I love making my own festive winter decorations, I love the smell of dried oranges, Christmas spices and drinking my delicious foraged alcohol.
I do love this time of year!

Today, see if you can spot a little Robin, plumping its feathers, singing in the wind. The Robin has a beautiful song, and if you don't recognise the song of the Robin there is a great App available, which can identify the songs of all the birds.
These cheeky little birds are one of my favourites.

Have a wonderful Wednesday and see if you can listen to the songs of the birds today, and notice how this makes you feel.

Winter Fire Circle
Come join myself and Laura Clark Modern Day Medicine Woman for a magical afternoon at our Winter Fire Circle event! We'll be gathering at the beautiful Abercairney Estate on the 30th of November at 11am, for a day of forest bathing, creating Winter Wreaths and creating beautiful Winter Forest bath salts foraged from the woodland and of course a cosy fire. It's the perfect way to embrace the winter season and connect with nature. Don't forget to bring your favorite blanket and a mug for some mulled wine. It is going to be a magical day, creating beautiful Winter creations and embracing the change of season.
Hopefully see some of you there!

The Beech Tree!

The queen of British Trees! Such a beauty, standing tall glowing like the warmth of the sun! November is a great time to witness the transformation of the trees, every day I walk this walk and every day the landscape changes.
Take notice on your daily walks, notice the changes around you, notice the colours, the decay, the life. Practising these little moments of connection can create far reaching and transformative impact.

https://www.naturally-mindful.co.uk/resources have some wonderful resources about nature connection.
Nature connection creates a ripple effect and supports our health and wellbeing by being a healer and co regulator.
Notice the trees, smell the earth, be curious about the natural world around you 🍂🍁

Small moments spent in nature can soothe the nervous system! Listening to the subtle song of the Robin and noticing its little red breast fluttering in the winds was so calming. Noticing the intricate detail of the leaf, and how I thought the leaf mirrors my own being, delicate, fragile but also strong and vibrant. Lastly the mischievous squirrel which I was having fun with playing peek a boo. This left me feeling grounded and more centred. Nature is my therapy. She knows me, she sees me, without judgement, just offering her beauty to give me everything I needed today.

For the past few days time has stood still, my lovely mum had a stroke and was very poorly in hospital.
I have been running on adrenaline and I am completely exhausted, I have felt totally disconnected to the world around me and consumed by the event.
Today there have been signs of hope, small steps but signs of positivity but also anticipation regarding the future.
Every day the sun rises, every day small steps are taken to heal. there is a long way to go but I am feeling a little more optimistic about her recovery.
Forever grateful she is still with me.

My afternoon read! I love remembering sayings and stories and old tales of nature. Sharing the stories with my children too, keeping them alive and ensuring the next generation will remember the words of our childhood.

Nature for Wellbeing

Week 5 of our Nature for Wellbeing Session with today. It was a damp and dreich day as they say here in Scotland but the Autumn air and the abundance of plants and colours lifted spirits.
Once again my picture taking is limited, I liked to be present so not many pictures are often taken. We went on a foraging walk and we discussed the mindful process of foraging using our senses to identify plants.
There were lots of plants and trees spotted, some green, some dying back.

Sweet Cicily
Scots Pine
Nettles
Rosehips
Mugwort
Plantain
Linden
Hogweed

We stood and watched the River Tay, noticing its calmness and how this mirrored our own internal experience whilst being outside in nature.
A peaceful moment at the river bank, watching and listening and being present.
