Group A streptococcus (GAS), also known as strep A is a common bacteria which causes infections such as tonsillitis and scarlet fever. These symptoms are usually mild and rarely become serious.

Strep A can however cause a rare, and more serious infection known as invasive Group A strep (iGAS). This happens when GAS bacteria get into parts of the body where it is not normally found, like the lungs or bloodstream.

** UPDATE REGARDING LATERAL FLOW TESTS **

On Tuesday 15 March, the First Minister announced Scotlands Test and Protect Transition Plan and the gradual drawdown of testing facilities available in Scotland. To reflect the changing nature of the pandemic, the primary purpose of testing is changing from population wide testing to reduce transmission to targeted testing to support clinical care. As part of the transition the LFD collect service operating from community pharmacies will cease on Thursday 31 March.

Tayside cCBT service launches new online treatment packages

The Tayside Computerised Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Service (cCBT) has introduced two new online treatment packages to benefit patients.

The Tayside cCBT services provides a wide range of interactive, online psychological self-help treatments, including programmes focusing on a range of different anxiety disorders, depression, psychological distress related to long term health conditions, perinatal wellbeing and packages to improve psychological wellbeing.

The service has recently added two new programmes which can be accessed by anyone and do not require a referral:

Sleepio - an online cCBT treatment package to treat insomnia and improve sleep.

People can access the programme at www.sleepio.com/nhs

Daylight - an online cCBT package for treatment of anxiety and worry.

People can access the programme at www.trydaylight.com/nhs

The two new packages have been available to NHS Tayside staff throughout the pandemic and are now available to the public.

You do not need to be referred into the Tayside cCBT service to access the Sleepio and Daylight programmes.
