It is harder than ever to get free homeopathy appointments through the NHS but the students colleges are a great way to get treatment. I’m eternally grateful - and remember every one of the people who came to the Irish School of Homeopathy.

Free homeopathic consultations are available with the Faculty of Homeopathy Student Training Clinic.

The consultation will be online with a trainee homeopath (who is also a qualified healthcare professional) supervised by a highly experienced medical homeopath.

Our next available appointments are on Wednesday 10 June 2026 and Wednesday 8 July 2026 at 9am, 10.30am and 12pm.

If you decide to take part in the Faculty’s Student Training Clinic you will receive homeopathic treatment and at the same time do your part to help the Faculty with training the homeopaths of the future. Please note patients of the Faculty Student Training Clinic must be aged 18 years or over.

Please contact Lisa Peacock, Academic Officer, at lpeacock@facultyofhomeopathy.org for further information if you are interested in booking an appointment.

My fridge and worktops are filling up with bottles and jars ready for the Fermentation: Fad or Fantastic? Workshop on Saturday 15th May at Morningside Farm I am going to show you how EASY and cheap it is to make these things yourself. This article tells you a bit about how much better for you the home-made is too. You wouldn't buy a cup of tea from the supermarket and once you get the hang of it - that's how easy it is to make your own kombucha! Come along and find out - you'll save a FORTUNE!!

The fermented food revolution is one of the most genuinely exciting developments in gut health science in a generation. The products being sold in its name are, in many cases, its precise opposite.

Last week I attended a webinar about the importance of fibre (and water) in our diets and this marvellous Substack sums it up beautifully.

The $70 billion probiotic market is built on a foundation of half-truths, dead bacteria, and marketing budgets that dwarf the research. Let’s name names.

When homeopathy is used on animals the response is often really fast. It’s difficult to call it a placebo reaction too. I love it particularly with emotional issues like the loss of a close companion.

Celebrating HOMEOPATHY AWARENESS WEEK with a look at the remedy Ledum palustre, also known as Marsh or Labrador Tea.

This is a low-growing, perennial evergreen shrub in the Rhododendron genus of the heath family, Ericaceae. It isn’t native to the UK but has naturalised in places.

Ledum can be used whenever puncture wounds occur, from whatever injury, including tick and other insect bites. It also has reputed anti-tetanus properties in addition to its ability to help such wounds heal from the depths outwards.

I often recommend this tissue salt - here is a detailed explanation of its action.

CALC FLUOR & Elasticity (Calcium fluoride)
One of the earliest and clearest actions of Calc fluor is its role in elastic tissue.

Not hardness. Not density.
Elastic return.

Schuessler describes Calc fluor as present wherever tissue must stretch and then come back — ligaments, blood vessels, skin, connective tissue, enamel surfaces. The problem it addresses is not weakness, but loss of recoil.

Biologically, elastic fibres (elastin, collagen frameworks) rely on calcium–fluoride complexes to maintain their structural memory. When Calc fluor is sufficient, fibres lengthen under pressure and then resume their original form. When it is deficient, tissues may still stretch — but they don’t fully contract again.

This is why early Calc fluor signs often look contradictory:
▪ dilation without tone
▪ lax tissue alongside hard nodules
▪ sagging paired with thickening

The mechanism matters.
When elastic fibres lose their organising mineral, circulation slows locally. Fluids are not reabsorbed efficiently. The lymphatic system struggles to clear exudates. Over time, this stagnation leads to hardening, thickening, or nodular deposits — not because tissue is “overgrowing,” but because it cannot resolve and remodel itself properly.

This is why Schuessler grouped things like:
▪ varicose veins
▪ relaxed vessel walls
▪ hardened glands
▪ cystic or nodular swellings

under the same mineral logic.

Practical, at-home applications
Noting: Calc fluor is not a quick-fix mineral. It works slowly because it is restoring architecture, not stimulating function.

A very practical use today:
▪ chronic areas that feel both lax and thick
▪ long-standing vein issues
▪ tissues that have “given way” structurally (post-pregnancy, long strain, ageing connective tissue)

This is also why Calc fluor is traditionally taken in the evening — tissue repair and connective remodelling are slower, restorative processes, often undertaken by the body overnight.

If someone expects immediate tightening, they’ll miss the point.
Calc fluor doesn’t force contraction.
It restores the ability for tissues to remember how to hold themselves.

A wonderful mineral with broad impacts 💜Be patient and steady with dosing, and in a month or twos time, you will see wonderful results!

Moths have caused turmoil in our home this year but like any good infection they have precipitated quite the clear-out. Read my latest blog to find out how they have been instructive visitors.

I've been on quite the journey with moths this year.It started with a casually aired observation from the youngest that she'd seen a lot of little moths in her room. This led to a long-overdue sort-through of her clothes checking for holes. As she disappeared off to another one of her Summer of '25 p...
