One of the worst aspects of losing a companion animal is when we don’t anticipate it. This happens so suddenly that shock and trauma, guilt and anger can make the grieving process very difficult indeed.

You gave your companion the best life. The sun will shine again.

We don’t always have the opportunity to give our animals the ending we would want for them.

This may be because they’re involved in an accident, or they suddenly fall ill and deteriorate very fast. We may not be able to get them to the vet in time, or have the money to do so.

What we do know is that we have given them the best life, full of kindness and love 🤍🐕🤍🐈‍⬛🤍🐁🤍🐎

Self blame, trauma, anger, disbelief are all emotions we may feel in the early days following a death.

Please be kind to yourself. When you can, talk about how you are feeling with someone who understands.

🕊️🐾🐕🐾🐈🐾🐎🐾🕊️

Compounded grief is the phenomenon of facing multiple griefs that come faster than we can process them, so that 1 plus 1 no longer equals 2, but instead multiplies exponentially until our grief muscles simply can’t carry them all.

If you are struggling with multiple losses, you are not alone.

Please reach out for help.

(Don’t forget Blue Cross UK offer free unlimited telephone or email support).

The final act of caring we can undertake for our animals is to give them a peaceful ending. “Better a day to soon than a day too late”

We may have days, weeks, months to plan this.

This can put us into a state known as anticipatory grief.

Please be kind to yourself and know that when the time comes you’re doing the very best thing, however hard it may be 🐾🐕🤍🕊️

Disenfranchised grief is when your grieving doesn’t fit in with society’s attitude towards dealing with death and loss.

Often people experience very deep grief when they lose an animal, and they may never fully get over it, still feeling tearful and choked up months or years after the event.

Many people simply don’t understand the depth of feelings we have towards our treasured animals, and how much we may struggle with their loss.

This can cause us to internalise or hide our feelings, and prolong the grieving process. Try to find someone who acknowledges your feelings and allows you to express yourself freely. It is so beneficial for the healing journey 🐾🕊️

SERVICES:

Coaching for:

💔Animal bereavement/loss support for you 🕊️
💔Bereavement/loss support for your dog 🐾

💛 Bereavement Support for You:
Supporting you, your family or your children if your companion animal has died, or you may be contemplating euthanasia, or having a beloved animal re-homed.

Animals are such a huge part of our lives and it is natural to feel bereft at their loss and it can be a very lonely time. I offer a listening and understanding ear, and advice regarding practical things you can do, including learning about self care, and the stages of grief and remembrance rituals. This can be in my home in Cromer, your home or a place of your choosing, such as a cafe.

Often we desperately need to feel heard during such a heartbreaking time.

The events surrounding your animals death may have been traumatic. Please reach out if you are struggling to process the event, or with feelings of guilt or self blame, or if you’re not sure you made the right decision at the right time.

Even if it’s been a while, if you are still finding things difficult it’s never too late to seek help.

🤎 Bereavement or Loss Support for your dog
Animals struggle with losses in their lives in much the same way as we do. They may be coping with the loss of a beloved owner or companion animal, or something else that has caused them a big upset to their routine, such as a house move. We can't explain to them what has happened, but we may be able to help them with their journey to a happier place.

(Although loss can affect all animals, this service is specifically for dogs as that is my qualified field)
