I don’t think there was a better way to spend a rainy Saturday than in my studio with beautiful clients. 💖

Each session was completely different and each person had a completely different experience… reiki always gives you exactly what you need at the time. I am simply the hollow bone.

I don’t often work on a Saturday but plan to open one Saturday each month this year for those that find a weekend appointment easiest.

How does your body react to stress? Are you in tune enough with your body to listen when she needs rest? Do you allow your own cup to be filled before you take care of others needs?

Or do you ignore all the signs that your body and soul give you and keep going? Pushing through even though you are at breaking point?

I talk about self care to clients all the time. I talk about how important it is to look after ourselves and to find time for self care. Failing to take care of yourself hurts in the long run, for both health and productivity. Trying to deal with life’s challenges when your glass is empty runs you down physically and mentally, and makes you more vulnerable to illness (and yes, chronic stress is an illness).

I’ve was very guilty of not following my own advice last year. I was very close to burn out and emotionally exhausted. Some days I just stayed in bed as I didn’t have the capacity to actually do anything, which really wasn’t like me.

Sometimes the Universe makes you stop and listen even if you don’t want to hear it.

Admitting defeat, holding up that white flag of surrender and gently holding yourself in loving kindness is all you can do. 🏳

So I rested. I took most of December off. I slept late. I ate well. I drank lots of water. I read a lot. I walked with my wee dog around our beautiful loch, I sat in the woods amongst the trees and I filled my cup and gained some perspective.

Believe me, there is nothing wrong with taking that time to refresh yourself, especially when you come out the other end revitalised and ready to take on the world again.

Does your Nervous System feel a bit overwhelmed just now? Are you finding yourself feeling a bit disconnected or anxious. Maybe keeping yourself busy all the time and unable to just slow down.

Maybe you are feeling emotionally drained and tired all the time but have trouble sleeping.

A dysregulated nervous system can manifest in a variety of ways.

A dysregulated nervous system is one that is constantly in a state of fight-or-flight. This means that your body is in a constant state of stress, which can lead to a whole host of health problems.

So how can I help?

Energy Healing helps to calm your busy mind & restore your natural equilibrium.

When you are happy & healthy energy flows freely throughput your body, when you become anxious or stressed it can lead to you becoming tired & lethargic.

Energy starts to stagnate causing blockages, which can in turn lead to illness. This can play havoc with your mind & body.

Reiki clears these blockages, restoring your natural energy flow & raising your vibration.

Reiki helps your body shift from the reactive sympathetic nervous system (SNS) into the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) where the body is able heal, to deeply nourish and restore itself.

Our bodies cannot be in a stressed state yet heal at the same time. We need to be in the ‘rest and digest’ mode for healing to take place and not in ‘fight or flight’ mode.

It’s hard to believe we only have 10 days left of January. The days feel as though they are flying by…The 31st is Imbolc, the midway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. We are already beginning to see the first stirrings of new life… I was so delighted to spot snowdrops today.

Snowdrops often emerge around this time, their delicate white flowers symbolising hope and resilience. Buds are beginning to form on trees, while daffodil and crocus shoots reach up towards the sun, and the air carries that subtle promise of Spring.🌱

When we align with the rhythms of nature, Imbolc offers an opportunity to reconnect, set intentions and gently prepare for the brighter days ahead. It is a moment to honour the transition from rest to growth, from darkness to light.

Soon the mornings will be brighter, and our days will begin to lengthen as we celebrate the return of the light.

Quite a few women I’ve spoken to this week have said to me that they feel completely exhausted. That it feels like the festivities are just catching up with them and that we are thrown back in to routine too quickly.

Although this is the time of year to be resting and taking care of ourselves, sometimes we just can’t. Add peri-menopause, children, family commitments and work into that and no wonder we as women are tired! I honestly feel it too.

It got me thinking what could I offer? How can I help women that are tired and overwhelmed but don’t really have that much time for themselves.. so I created this…

Deep Rest for Tired Women

A 90-minute nervous system reset

This class is for women who are tired in a way that sleep alone doesn’t seem to fix.

If you feel wired but exhausted, emotionally overloaded, restless at night, or like your body is constantly “on alert”, your nervous system is doing its best to protect you but it’s completely unregulated.

Many women, particularly during peri-menopause, experience higher cortisol levels due to hormonal shifts, long-term stress, caring responsibilities and years of putting themselves last. This can show up as fatigue, anxiety, poor sleep, weight gain, low mood, brain fog and a sense of never quite being able to switch off.

Deep Rest for Tired Women is a gentle, deeply nourishing class designed to help your body remember how to rest.
