Learn how to stay calm and act confidently in an emergency. This friendly hands-on session is perfect for parents, grandparents and carers. No previous experience needed.

You will learn how to:
- Assess an emergency safely
- Perform CPR on adults, children and infants
- Use a defibrillator (AED)
- Help someone who is choking
- Spot the signs of anaphylaxis
- Use an adrenaline auto-injector (EpiPen)

We will be offering a COVID-19 Spring Booster Vaccination to individuals at higher risk of serious illness, with the programme running from 14 April 2026 onwards.💉

Who is eligible?

The following groups are eligible for the Spring 2026 booster:💉

Adults aged 75 years and over (including those who will turn 75 by 30 June 2026)
Residents in a care home for older adults
Individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed

PLEASE NOTE the surgery will be sending out self-booking links to all eligible patients, so there is no need to contact the surgery.🖥️

🚨 Our Emergency Department at University Hospital of North Durham is extremely busy, with a high number of patients needing care and treatment.

Please only attend if emergency care is genuinely needed.
⚠️ Patients with minor injuries or illnesses should expect a long wait.

If you’re unsure where to go or need urgent care, please contact NHS 111, online, via the NHS app or by calling 111. They can offer advice, direct you to the right service and may be able to arrange an appointment so you’re seen sooner.
