I have worked for over 20 years as a nurse and midwife, mostly in a community setting. I would like to share some of my knowledge and experience with parents to be. I enjoy teaching people and like the practical side of midwifery-it is my aim to be with women and guide them through their journey. Although we live in a world of the internet and google, I think most people would benefit by having
better knowledge and forming good bonds during pregnancy. I hope to provide a more fun, practical and interactive approach to pregnancy and birth. By offering this course I believe it will help new families prepare for birth and enable them to have realistic expectations of the early days of being a new family. Empowering them to feel confident to look after their baby in those challenging early days. I am married and have 2 grown up children, who I am extremely proud of. I have a variety of experience of both life and work, which I would like to share, to help parents to enjoy their pregnancy birth and baby.
Whilst working in the community I found I was teaching some basic principles which could easily be taught antenataly reducing the problems after birth. Often couples would have benefited by being more prepared for the experience of birth. It is my hope that by providing local evening classes, parents will be well equip for birthing and bringing a baby into the world and all the challenges it brings. I like to teach by imparting practical information in a fun and informative way, sharing knowledge to enabling parents to cope in the early days. By being in a group setting you would be able to make good friendships and meet other expectant parents, forming great relationships which are so invaluable when becoming a parent.
