The evolution of bird proofing anti down draft cowls today.

Version 1, roll up a cylinder of mesh and stuff it in. Effective and invisible from the floor but would have caused problems with the chimney sweep and probably lead to a build up of soot and maybe restrict airflow.

Version 2, cover the whole thing in mesh. Bird proof and sweep proof. Not that visible from the floor.

Version 3, Just as I was about to be happy with version 2, I realised I could cut out all the excess and it would be just as bird and sweep proof yet look much better.

This afternoon's job was to remove some very large chunks of mortar lying in the valley high above the entrance to these apartments in Tunbridge Wells. There was an awkward structure and residents cars to negotiate which made it a bit more fun.

This morning was a flue liner install for up in Oxted.

Yesterday I was in Bromley helping remove the last of the Xmas lights from the council buildings.

Working with my old mate Matt today, reducing an American Oak (in cold England) in a bid to reduce the strain on some dodgy branch unions and keep the old girl from splitting apart. Big tree to get round in a day.

Thanks to for the work today in . 2 liners down on one property and vented caps and a bird guard on a second house.

I try to take as much care as possible with peoples gardens when getting the machine in position, it's nice to leave minimal impact.

I provide operated hire for all manner of different trades and types of job, although chimney liners are a decent proportion of my work! Quicker and cheaper than scaffolding, the home owners love it too!

This is the second Job of the day in . Some strange flue routing on this one, furthest pot but going into the front room 🤷, no problem tho, easy reach and a nice slippery liner. Shame they aren't all like that!!

I was asked if we could help with the installation of a large display at the for .

Luckily the Leo 21GT is a tank of a machine. It was deployed as a MEWP for fitting and attaching the wire rope supports and as a crawler crane to lift a 5mx3m bespoke built exhibition piece into place.

The MEWP has some company in the tank shed overnight with a range of British tanks including Challengers and Cheiftans.

Laaaaandon today... Always a tiring day. 530am on the road, on site 38 miles later at 745🫩....

Removal of some banners for the lovely people at at university.

All went well with a little help of some ramps from to get up a wall.

Ooh and a trailer tyre exploded on the M25 /A21 junction on the way home which was exciting! Luckily managed to pull into a random works vehicle only layby or link road to change the tyre.

We put the new gutter vac set up from to work yesterday. We have a 110v silent generator feeding into the base of the Spider which in turn has an outlet in the basket to plug the vac into.

This is perfect for high level gutters on big old houses like this as we can reach right into deep valleys and awkward areas.

If you or your clients have high level gutters that need a clean point them in this direction!
