                                            ✨ Understanding Scarring Alopecia ✨
Scarring alopecia (also known as cicatricial alopecia) is a rare but serious condition that accounts for only 3% of hair loss cases in men and women.
Unlike other types of alopecia, scarring alopecia causes permanent follicle damage, meaning hair cannot regrow once scar tissue forms.
👉 Some conditions that fall under scarring alopecia include:
• Autoimmune/inflammatory conditions such as lichen planopilaris (LPP), frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA), discoid lupus erythematous (DLE)
• infections - severe bacteria or fungal infections
• Physical trauma - burns, radiation, injuries
• Trauma or skin disorders that damage the follicles
🔎 What it looks like:
 • Smooth, shiny patches of scalp with no visible follicles
 • May cause itching, burning, or tenderness
 • Can include redness, scaling, or (less often) blisters
•. Progressive and permanent hair loss
⚡ Can it be treated?
There is no way to reverse follicle scarring, but treatment can:
 • Reduce inflammation
 • Slow down or even stop progression
 • Minimise symptoms like pain or burning
💡 Options include medicated creams, steroid injections, and tailored treatment plans from a hair loss professional. Early intervention is key!
