Celebrating Earth Day at Shirley Oaks Hospital 🌿

Today, our amazing volunteers came together to refresh and revitalise a special outdoor space designed for patients to enjoy peaceful moments of reflection.

Guided by our Circle values of care, respect and collaboration, benches were cleaned, a new bird feeder installed, bulbs and seeds planted, and fresh woodchip laid. The transformation is clear to see in the before-and-after photos - a beautiful, calming area that supports wellbeing and mindful moments for all who visit.

Surrounded by greenery, this space offers a naturally calming environment that can help patients relax and support recovery following procedures.

If you're in the Croydon area, this peaceful spot is here for quiet reflection and connection with nature 💚 If you're lucky, you might also spot Shirley the white squirrel foraging nearby.

At Shirley Oaks Hospital, we love finding ways to bring people together—and this Easter, our teams got creative with a fun (and very competitive!) Egg Decorating Competition! 🎨

🥇 A huge congratulations to Patient Administrator Melba for her egg-cellent winning creation!

👏 A special mention also goes to Quality & Risk Manager Carolyn for her amazing Scotch Eggs entry—which would have taken 2nd place if she hadn’t kindly stepped back as organiser.

BMI Shirley Oaks Hospital is a private hospital located in Shirley Village close to the Croydon city centre. Our hospital team is dedicated to providing you with supportive treatment and recovery in comfortable surroundings.

Our facilities: We have 27 inpatient bedrooms, 10 consulting rooms three theatres (one with laminar flow), a JAG accredited endoscopy suite, ambulatory care unit and imaging services (X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound). We provide services for Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Men’s Health, physiotherapy, Gastroenterology, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Cardiology and breast screening clinics.
