DAY 17 Make Life Worth Living – by Claire.

Sporting Passion

What makes a life worth living? When a person experiences suicidal ideation, it can be a tough and overwhelming process to overcome. The Connections Link Life Su***de Prevention Training is designed to help you support others in emotional distress or crisis – to find a life worth living.

The Mental Health Report for NI, 2022, found that 21% of people in Northern Ireland experience mental health problems and a shocking 1 in 8 young people experience emotional difficulties, so our Link21Life Campaign aims to address this growing problem in our small province.

One of the Connections Link Life Ambassadors, Claire, when asked what makes a life worth living for her, shared that sport and the connections she makes with it, are something highly important in her life.

This life-saving knowledge means that those in crisis are helped to search for and find a Life Worth Living. The Connections Ambassadors have been sharing what A Life Worth Living means to them.

Roisin says that one of the things that enhances life for her is the experience of feeling the warmth and light of the sunshine – even in rainy Northern Ireland!

DAY 9 Make Life Worth Living – by Bridie.

The Meaning of Life

The word ‘life’ has its roots in the Germanic language - the word meant ‘body’ and ‘to live’.

But what does it mean today? We know how to use it in a sentence, but it is a vast and complex subject, all represented by this tiny little word. Every day, people are struggling with their mental health, their grief and their overall emotional state, and it is a reminder to us how important it is to value life and to know what we live for.

We’ve been asking the Connections Link Life Ambassadors what they think makes life worth living. Today we hear from Bridie who is a fan of the outdoors and is passionate about the value it brings to her life.

The value of life, of being here, of knowing how valuable your existence is to yourself and others, is demonstrated in our Connections Link21Life Su***de Prevention Training.

DAY 8 Make Life Worth Living – by John.

Finding Your Purpose

This modern, fast paced and pressured world can be a tough place. If you lose your purpose, if your happiness dissolves, it can be almost impossible to know what you need to find again to make your life worth living.

The Connections Link Life Training has launched the Link21Life Campaign; asking our talented and experienced ambassadors what they feel makes a life worth living. They work hard every day to provide the public with the tools and resources needed to support someone through suicidal ideation. They know their purpose and they are inspiring others every day to find theirs.

John, one of our Link Life Ambassadors, says that for him, it’s a visit to his place of spirituality – Old Trafford. What’s your place of spirituality? Remember it on those tough days – it will get you through.

From Stress to Strength

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy proven to effectively treat a wide range of emotional and physical health conditions including:

Depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, panic, phobias, grief, anger, low self esteem, realtionship issues & stress.

CBT can help you change how you think (cognitive) and what you do (behaviour), this can help change how you feel. Problems that are overwhelming are broken down into smaller pieces making them easier to manage.

We can often find daily life a challenge, frequently having to deal with high levels of stress which can have a negative impact on our mental and physical health. It is important that we find ways to reduce our stress levels through self care techniques which may include therapy. Therapy can provide you with insight and awareness and teach you healthy coping strategies that help you live your best life.
