Due to weather conditions to the East of here, we have been told that today's Sunday Newspapers got to Swansea, but failed to get through to us and have been returned to Swansea.

We will not be receiving newspapers today and there will be no delivery by us as a result. We are very sorry 😞

These battered boxes represent an end of an era. For the last ¼ Century this software has run our Sunday Newspaper deliveries and accounts. Last week the hard disk on the computer died. No problem, I had a backup. Except this program will not work on 64bit architecture so none of the newer computers I have will run the software.

An MS-DOS programme, it was supposed to have fallen over at the Millenium but continued to work although it thought that 2022 was 1922!

It has been an outstanding product. Gandlake Software created software to connect really big computers (like the DVLA) to really big printers. They produced this PC Relational Database for their own internal use, including some new Patents and realised they could market it. It was very easy to understand and also had a very powerful report writing system. Those two boxes are very full lever arch files about the report writing.

I found it a pleasure to programme and work with and after a couple of weeks at Newbury, polishing my programming skills, I was recognised as a Gandlake Programming Consultant. We sold some of the very excellent bolt on account packages. Then Windows arrived and killed its market.

I recently wrote to Gandlake to ask if it had been developed since and to say I was still using it. I got a lot of "Oh wow!" emails in a trail back to John Gandley who was pleased I had enjoyed it so much. He told me he was still using his too.

Anyway. You will notice new label formats as we have already created a new system.
