⚠️ Please be advised we are not currently offering throat swabs/tests for Strep A. Please be aware of the symptoms and contact your GP if you have any concerns.

This year we have seen higher than usual numbers of Group A Streptococcal (GAS) infections in Scotland. Group A Streptococcus (GAS), also known as Strep A, are bacteria commonly found on the skin or in the throat.

In particular, there has been a persistently high number of cases of Scarlet Fever (a common presentation of this infection) among children.

GAS are spread by close contact between individuals, through respiratory droplets and direct skin contact.

To help reduce the risk of picking up or spreading infections wash your hands properly with soap for 20 seconds, use a disposable tissue to catch coughs and sneezes and keep away from others if you feel unwell.

📣We would politely ask that you do not call the pharmacy to enquire if your prescription is ready as it prevents us from taking urgent calls from those who need us. Instead please call into branch taking into account the normal GP surgery lead in time.
