Feel good about your damaged toenails this summer. 🌞 ☀️✨️ 🌅

No need to hide your feet away, we've got you sorted with Nail reconstruction.

Book in with our Podiatrist, Christie at 5 Cloverhill Place, Chryston Business Park, G69 9DQ.

Not only is Christie a highly skilled Podiatrist at WilsonGrant Podiatry but she is also our nail reconstruction specialist.

Her diary is now open for online bookings👣

She'll also be looking to add in a gel nail paint colour to this service over the top of her nail reconstruction work!! Eeeeek😍 We are excited 👣

What is nail reconstruction?👣
Nail reconstruction is a treatment for short, damaged, or broken nails to enhance the length and shape of the nail. Patients can also paint over the new nail using nail polish or shellac if they wish.

Who is suitable for nail reconstruction?👣
Patients with the following presentations are all suitable for nail reconstruction; thick and discoloured nails, cracked or damaged nails, reduced nails due to trauma, nails with abnormal shape or growth.

Nail reconstruction is not suitable for those with onychomycosis (fungal nail infection) due to the level of drilling required to prepare for the polygel application. When drilling a fungal nail, a mass of fungal spores enters the air which is breathed in by the practitioner as well as the patient. Long term frequent exposure to this can have serious implications for the practitioner’s respiratory health as well as cause various infections of the eyes, ears and nose therefore we no longer offer this as an option to those with fungal nails and instead would encourage the patient to treat the infection rather than mask the unsightly nail with nail reconstruction. We can help with treatment and advice on fungal nails.

Nail reconstruction is not suitable for those who have had a total nail avulsion (TNA) with no regrowth as the polygel needs an anchor to bind to. If a nail reconstruction was to be done on a totally smooth nail bed it would last no longer than a day or two due to the natural oils secreted from the skin which would impact the adhesion of the polygel.

Nail recon can last 6-8 weeks but varies due to factors such as activity and footwear.

👣VERRUCA👣

Introducing our brand new upgraded swift pro machines available at both clinics.

Verrucae are caused by HPV and can be very stubborn to treat.
• Part of this reason is that HPV stays in the superficial layers of the skin and releases anti-inflammatory cells into the area which makes it harder for your body’s immune system to detect and fight.
• Most common treatments use chemicals to destroy the wart tissue externally and have little immune involvement – hence their limited success.
• Swift treatment uses low levels of microwaves to treat verrucae by targeting the water molecules in the verruca cells, this causes them to collide and generate heat which creates a local immune response which kills the virus.

• The microwaves are a form of non-ionising radiation which doesn’t alter or damage DNA, therefore has no carcinogenic risk. Devices such as mobile phones, wifi, Bluetooth and GPS all use microwaves.

• Verrucae reside in the top layer of the skin, swift delivers treatment to a maximum depth of 5mm and microwaves travel in straight lines, this ensures no healthy tissues are damaged during treatment.

• The treatment lasts for 5 seconds with 2-3 seconds of discomfort, which in most cases settles almost instantly. If you have more than one verruca to be treated, we can treat multiple. We just repeat the same process on each one. So the 5 seconds for one, will become 10 seconds time for two sites and so on.

• Unlike other treatments, Swift doesn’t require any aftercare or dressings as it doesn’t break the skin. If the area is uncomfortable after treatment, the podiatrist can provide padding.

• Most cases can require 3-4 sessions. Treatments 1-3 are carried out at 4 weekly intervals followed by a review appointment 4- 12 weeks later.
