Wednesday- Edinburgh & National Drugs Mission Conference 2026.

As you probably saw on our page we headed to Edinburgh to attend the conference & I am sure our singing went down a storm. Carpool karaoke 🎤 🎶

Aside from the laughter en route this was a real opportunity to celebrate the work being done across the country. Drugs minister Marie Todd spoke about how collaboration & responsive support across statutory services, 3rd sector & grassroots organisations are crucial in the attempt to reduce the drug deaths in Scotland. She pledged to continue to provide support & funding so that organisations can focus on the work & delivery if their programs.

Many organisations attended with a few familiar faces in the room. It was heart warming to know that everyone was motivated by the same thing .... To provide support, to reduce harm, to learn how to do things better. For us it was an opportunity to remember we ARE trying & that we are best placed to deliver that support alongside our partners.

We heard from various speakers on the day who all spoke with passion, enthusiasm & determination. Their voices were clear & echoed the need for further funding to ensure the right support is available in Scotland.

We were extremely proud of our Recovery coordinator Graham for being nominated for an award for his commitment to his role & for his commitment and dedication to supporting recovery locally❤️

Overall, it was a powerful day. A day of reflection, a chance to consider hopes & aspirations for what's yet to come. An opportunity for collective learning. A day to remember no one service or place offers "solutions"....but collectively we can make a difference rooted in compassion.

And of course, in true Nest style we didn't just 'turn up' we really 'showed up'. 😊❤️🎤

Wednesdays, yesterday, our breakfast group was on in the morning.

Our volunteers pulled together as the majority of our team headed to Edinburgh for a conference.

The rolls were cooked, the tea & coffee ☕ made & a quiz hosted. (Thank you Isla for helping this week!). 74 people visited this week.

In the afternoon Jill facilitated our weekly session at Bowhouse Prison. This was a huge thing for her as she was delivering it herself. It created a space for cultivating Wellness, meaningful conversation & finished with some sound healing. A huge pat on the back for Jill for her delivery & for holding this space.

Tuesday -

❤️Our digital drop in allowed an opportunity for our community to get support with all things digital, including completion of forms etc.

❤️ Positive parenting at The Nest facilitated by Barnardo's. This group is providing a space for parents to explore the 3 P's of parenting... Not because they aren't good parents already, but to remind them that they are & support them to explore other techniques.

❤️ Leadership embodiment - our Wellbeing manager continues her LE training journey with her teacher in Holland so that she can continue to offer Leadership training & courses here at The Nest.

❤️ Association of Camerados living room - our living room was open throughout the day... Offering friendship, togetherness, a blether or just a quiet space to have a cuppa - no agenda, no fixing 😊

❤️ Personal & Spiritual development group at night - we explored how we arrived in the space. We then watched a documentary and had an open discussion around various beliefs. Always a beautiful group space & a place to decompress and be alongside like minded people.

Tuesday also saw a number of pick ups & deliveries as part of our Nest maker project. We are so very grateful to our community for thinking of us when getting rid of furniture or appliances. This truly helps us to support others!! It also reduces the pressure on landfill & by helping us to help others reduces unnecessary waste. So far this year we have redistributed 32 beds, 18 white goods, 19 couches/sofas & so many other household items we have lost count. (And it's only March) 🪺🏠

A huge amount of thanx also to our team... without our volunteers it just wouldn't be possible. They give their time each day so we can continue to be out in our community helping. Eternally grateful ❤️

Thank you for helping us to help others ❤️❤️ and for those who have reached out for support.... Thank you for trusting us to be alongside you when life has been tough for you ❤️🙏

It's already Thursday and so much has been happening this week already at Team Nest 😊❤️

Monday - our wellbeing session was a powerful group with real opportunity for reflection & self growth.

Our women's group explored Leadership & how we can recover in situations & be more resourceful.

Coloursplash allowed people to continue to explore their creative side. Art and being creative can help people express, process, and manage complex emotions, trauma, and mental health issues.

Badminton 🏸 - our weekly badminton session at Catrine Games Hall Trust Registered Charity - Sco50067allowing a space for fitness, fun and for conversations to happen in a more organic way.

Our Camerado living room was open throughout the day... offering people a home from home 🏠

Family support - in the evening our family support group offered a safe space to share & lean into support offered.

A wee Sunday - Team Nest were early on the go this morning delivering a sofa & booth helping Bowhouse create a Living room in their new Wellbeing space.

When we came outside we found an injured sea gull so of course.... In Nest style we very quickly scooped it up & took it to Hessilhead Wildlife hospital to get some treatment ⚕️🤕

Then... Off to help with our Nest Maker project... Some painting etc ... Making a house a home 🏠

Then opening up for the weekly C.A meeting - Co***ne Anonymous at The Nest tonight.

Our weekends are just as important and vital as our weekdays ♥️♥️

End of the week at The Nest & we were so bored 🥱😔....

Joking 😜

We had Coloursplash art group Thursday throughout the day 🎨 also had various Uplifts & deliveries of furniture locally 🛋️🛌.

Our learning continues as some members had college as they study counselling & Uni Masters studying Addiction.

Friday & Clubbercise was another brilliant morning of fun & fitness. Watch this space for some fun plans coming up 🤫😃. And of course our Association of Camerados living room was open throughout the day.

Saturday - Wellbeing doesn't stop because it's not a week day. We had a wee house move this morning, helping someone get settled in their new home & providing some additional furniture that was needed.

Meanwhile, some of our girls had an appointment with glamour & self worth as 6 ladies went to get their hair done.
