Many of you will recognise our Optometrist, Rebecca, as she has worked at Shaws since the age of 14!🤯

Originally starting as a receptionist and carrying out tasks such as filing and answering phone calls. Rebecca then remained with Shaws throughout University, going on to complete her Pre-Registration year in Cumnock and has been with us as an optometrist ever since! 👩🏼‍⚕️

Many of our patients do refer to Rebecca as “the twins mum” as she is mum to a set of twins, Lily and Alice. Along with the twins and her husband, Christopher, Rebecca loves to travel and has an enjoyment for following Formula 1. 🏎️

A standard retinal photo shows the surface of your eye — but with Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), we can see beneath the surface in incredible detail.

🎄🎅🏼Hospital Christmas Gift Appeal 2025 🤶🏼🎁

This is the 10th year local sisters have collected gifts in memory of their Mum who had to spend Christmas 2015 in hospital battling cancer. She unfortunately lost her fight in early December 2016 💔 💫Betty Hoffin 1959-2016💫

We would love your help to fill the bottom of our tree with gifts for those who will not be at home for Christmas or is receiving cancer treatment during this time. These gifts will be greatly received by University Hospital Crosshouse Paediatric and Oncology Departments and also East Ayrshire Community Hospital.

Gift ideas could include -toiletry gift sets, fluffy socks, slippers, colouring book & pens, sweets, pyjamas etc. It doesn’t have to cost a lot, the sentiment means more. Please hand in to our practice before 11/12/25. We would ask you to pop your UNWRAPPED GIFT INTO A GIFT BAG ALONG WITH A GIFT TAG OR CHRISTMAS CARD AND DON’T FORGET TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME. Please DO NOT WRAP THEM and leave the bag UNSEALED so the wonderful NHS staff can distribute appropriately to patients.

Dawn recently joined Shaw Eyecare back in July this year. Having spent several years working in dental practices across Ayrshire, Dawn has decided to swap 🦷for 👁️.

In her spare time, Dawn enjoys spending time with her two children, her German shepherd and her shapoo (sh*t-zu x poodle, I didn’t know either👀).

We can’t wait for you to meet the new friendly face behind our reception desk, welcome Dawn!😁

⭐️Meet Colin⭐️

Many of you may not recognise this weeks ‘Meet the Team’ member from the front of the practice. 🤔

However, Colin has been with ShawEyecare for 14 years as our trusty Lab Technician. 👨🏻‍🔬

Colin has lost count of how many pairs of glasses he has made for our communities, and is known for his ingenuity in repairing pairs destined for the graveyard. As well as being a bit of a handyman around the practice.👷🏻

In his spare time, Colin will be found with his head buried under a car bonnet, fulfilling his love of cars. As well as being a passionate football supporting following ‘The Nock’ home or away. ⚽️

The Optase Life makeup remover and sensitive eye cream are newly added products to our Scope range.

Both of these are some of the few Ophthalmologist approved skin care products on the market. With less artificial ingredients than most skincare products, causing less irritation to the eyes and surrounding skin. 👁️

The makeup remover causes less irritation whilst removing makeup, and is sterilised using ionised water.💅🏼
