NHS Scotland is using a new text message service to ensure our patient waiting lists are up to date and that patients still need their appointments or operations.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran, working with the National Elective Coordination Unit (NECU), is contacting patients who have been waiting more than 26 weeks for an inpatient or day case procedure. Starting 20th April 2026, these patients will receive a text message from the mobile number 07860 039092.

The message will ask you to complete a short questionnaire about your current health and condition. This helps us make sure our waiting lists are accurate and that patients get the care they need as quickly as possible.

If you’re on a waiting list for any of these services within NHS Ayrshire & Arran, please do not ignore this message.

Each year, the clocks go forward by one hour on the last Sunday in March, marking the start of British Summer Time. This year, the change happens at 1 am on 29 March.

Even a small shift in time can be challenging for someone living with dementia. Changes to routines, sleep patterns, and daylight can cause confusion or make everyday activities feel harder.

Planning ahead and using simple strategies – like keeping familiar routines, getting outside in daylight, or using reminders – can help make the transition smoother.

If you or someone you know would like guidance or emotional support, our 24‑hour Freephone Dementia Helpline is here for you on 0808 808 3000. 💜
