We would like to extend our thanks to the family for allowing us to share their new family memorial.

Our “The Pebble” sized at 3ft overall in height in a stunning Dark Bahama Blue Granite.

This shape of stone is designed to look like a natural stone and it’s rounded on all edges of the plate, with the base having a fully bullnosed wavy front to add to the natural look like it has been smoothed by a coursing river over time, like a pebble.

The text has been engraved and done in Gold Resin which is a colour of text that contrasts the Dark Bahama Blue Granite to make it stand out.

The family had expressed how much of a Hearts fan their dearly loved one was, and wanted this expressed on the headstone. Discussions on this finalised to having the Hearts football crest being engraved and done in Gold Resin under the main inscription, and with text at the bottom of the letter plate stating “A Jambo Through n’ Through” (Jambo being a colloquialism for being a Hearts supporter).

To set the headstone off, the family wanted a photo of their dearly departed on it, and the shape of stone allows for this in the top left curved section of the letter plate. The family opted for an 11cm x 15cm Oval Photo Ceramic set within the top curved area of the plate.

We would like to extend our thanks to the family for allowing us to share this beautiful bespoke memorial for their baby boy.

Our “The Rocky Bear” headstone at 1ft 9inch overall height in a stunning Dark Bahama Blue Granite, with carved (back and front) and painted Patchwork Teddy Bear.

All the Teddy Bear stones that we supply are fully carved front, sides and back, and they are painted in an “antique” style finish with a customers choice of colours for patches/nose etc.

The text has been engraved and done in Silver Resin, complementing the grey tones of the Teddy Beat, and the style of font chosen by the family is the Waltograph (Disney) font.

The family had opted for sentimental text to be centred within the star which the Teddy Bear is holding up, creating that personal touch.

We would like to extend our thanks to the family for allowing us to share their new family memorial.

Our “Rossington” 2ft 9in in overall height in a stunning Indian Aurora Granite.

This modern shape of headstone is similar to a Half Ogee style letter plate, but features the two vertical edges of the plate as fully rounded edges, as well is being convex on the front and back face. This replicates the curve of the elliptically shaped plinth.

The decorative touches on this letter plate features intricately engraved and coloured “wrap around” climbing flowers along the top, left and bottom sections of the stone. The flower design on this stone usually comes in lilac and white, however our client had specified them to be in a blue similar to Forget Me Nots. This colour against Indian Aurora Granite makes them stand out in a classic way.

The text has been engraved and done in Gold Resin, and to finish the headstone off, on the front curve of the elliptical base a heartfelt sentiment is engraved.

We would like to extend our thanks to the family for allowing us to share their new family memorial.

Our “The Darwen” 2ft 10in overall height in a stunning in Star Galaxy Granite.

This shape of stone has 1” chamfered edges, is a symmetrical stone with curved shoulders which lends itself well to having graphics on each shouldered area to balance it out, as can be seen in the photos.

The family for this headstone decided on having the engraved text and graphics done in Gold Resin.

Three graphics have been chosen in total across the top and shoulders of the letter plate. One graphic being intertwined wedding bands with the initial of each dearly departed within the top curve, the second being a Wading Fisherman, and the third being a silhouette of a Female Scottish Highland Dancer, both facing in towards the text and bands giving this stone a truly personal touch.

To set the headstone off a heartfelt sentiment is engraved across the front of the plinth.

We would like to extend our thanks to the family for allowing us to share this beautiful bespoke memorial for their baby boy.

Our 105-Barony headstone (from our online brochure) at 2ft tall in Indian Black Granite. This classic shape of headstone allows for a lot of versatility, as can be seen by the photos.

The text has been engraved and done in Gold Resin, and the style of font chosen by the family is the Waltograph (Disney) font. A heartfelt sentiment (which is also a Celtic FC phrase) has been engraved along the front of the base, and this was chosen as the family are Celtic FC fans, but it can also have the double meaning of never being alone. It is visible at the front of the plinth since the headstone is erected on a raft foundation set back from the grass.

The family also had wanted Thistles on the stone, and this has been done as two graphics set within the top shoulders of the letter plate.

Finally, to set the headstone off, the family wanted a photo on the headstone and had opted for a 6cm Circle Photo Ceramic of the vintage style cartoon drawing of Winnie The Pooh Bear, which has been placed within the top curve of the letter plate.

We would like to extend our thanks to the family for allowing us to share these images of their family memorial before & after.

The client for this headstone came to us as the headstone was leaning back considerably, so stability was an issue, especially given the size of this stone. Our client also wanted the headstone cleaned and the lettering refreshed as well as new additional inscription.

For large stones like this, we use an A-Frame gantry crane for safety and to maintain structural integrity of the headstone. Due to the size of this stone, we laid it flat on the grave to allow the council to do the foundations.

Since this is an older headstone, it was not previously anchor pinned to its existing foundation and stability between lettering plate and base was an issue too due to lead pins having been previously used. When it came to re-erecting this stone, we redrilled all dowel holes to NAMM specification to allow new stainless steel threaded dowels to be resined in to re-join the two sections of granite. And drilled into the underside of the base two holes to accommodate anchor pins, and the stone is erected onto two NAMM approved anchor pins to the new foundation.

On re-stabilisation of the headstone, we also fully cleaned it and the text was redone with Gold Resin.

We also match all fonts for new additional inscriptions, so after refurbishment, the new and old inscriptions were done in Gold Resin so as to keep future maintanence of the text and stone to a minimum.

Our process is seamless for our clients, we deal with any local authority, have all forms readily available, and with us being full NAMM Retail Members and fully RQMF qualified, you know that your unstable/unsafe memorial will be fixed to the highest of standards for our trade.

This classic shape of headstone allows for a lot of versatility as can be seen in the pictures. This headstone has Gold Resin engraved text with a heartfelt sentiment at the bottom of the letter plate.

The family told us that their dearly departed was an avid Celtic FC fan, so discussions of having the Celtic FC badge on the stone was required. This has been done as a 10cm Circle Photo Ceramic in the top right hand corner of the stone. As well as that, the family and the dearly departed had always said Hail Hail with 4-leaved clovers in any messages sent between them, so for this personal touch, this has been engraved and done in Gold Resin and Green Resin, along the front of the plinth. This is visible at ground level due to the stone being erected on a raft foundation set back from the grass.

The family had wanted a photo of their loved one on the stone as well, and this has been done as a 10cm x 8cm Oval Photo Ceramic in the top left corner of the letter plate.

To finish the stone off, across the top of the stone to make a statement is the family surname done in 2” lettering which is centered between the 2 photo ceramics.

To finish the headstone off, the family had wanted their loved one’s photo on the stone and this has been done as a 12cm x 9cm Oval Photo Ceramic in the top left area, allowing room in the future for a second photo in the top right area.

Our 102-Carrick 2ft 6in from our online brochure in a stunning Balmoral Red Granite

The text on this stone has been engraved in Gold Resin, and has heartfelt sentiments under the main inscription details to fill out the letter plate. Also a heartfelt sentiment (which the dearly departed would say to each other) is engraved along the front of the base as the stone is set beck from the grass due to it being on a raft foundation.

Out client had requested a photograph of their family members together showing they love of husband and wife together, so had opted for an 8cm Circle Photo Ceramic in the top left area of the lettering plate.

To finish the headstone off it has a 1/4inch margin line following the shape of the stone engraved in Gold Resin to frame the text.

We would like to extend our thanks to the family for allowing us to share their new family memorial. Our 137-Arran sized at 2’6” overall height in Indian Black Granite with an accompanying Cloncaird 6” vases in Indian Black Granite, all from our online brouchure.

This classic peon shape with shoulders headstone allows for a lot of versatility as can be seen in the pictures.

This stone can come plain with no decorative framing/edging, or as can be seen in the photo, with a buffed/etched margin line showing the unpolished colour of the granite going along the shape of the stone with a decorative “gothic” style design in the shoulders.

The text has been engraved and done in Gold Resin, and the family had opted for a simple but heartfelt sentiment at the bottom of the letter plate.

The family wanted a photo of the dearly departed on the stone, so had opted for an 8cm Circle Photo Ceramic, placed in the top left had side.

On the vase, is engraved in Gold Resin a loving sentiment of a Papa from his grandsons.

Our client came to us as they live in England and had been notified by other family at the condition of their extended family memorials.

All three stones required stability works as well as refurbishment works.

Our client isn’t on Facebook but had requested we put her very kind review of us and our work on this post, which is as follows:

“Graeme Brooks and his Team at Ayrshire Memorials successfully renovated the aged headstone erected in 1937 at the Barony Church Cemetery, Auchinleck on the death of George, the young son of James & Mary (Thomson) Bunten.

It was an enormous task as this very substantial gravestone had only been renovated twice before – firstly on the death of my Grandfather James in 1962; and then on the instruction of their Elder Daughter, Mrs Margaret Ritchie when she died in 1997.

It should also be mentioned that at the same time, Ayrshire Memorials undertook the renovation of two other family headstones at the New Cemetery, Auchinleck - one for my Aunt and Uncle - Margaret F W (Bunten) & Alistair Ritchie and the other for my Uncles Matthew Bunten and John Bunten.

All three renovations were successfully completed by Ayrshire Memorials to the highest standard and it gives us great pleasure to recommend this Company for all their efforts, care and professionalism.
