🚨 Nationwide Emergency Alert Test — Sunday 7th September, 3pm

The UK’s new emergency alert system will send a loud siren, message, and vibration to every compatible phone even on silent. Survivors of abuse with hidden phones could be put at risk if the device is discovered.

You can opt out in your phone’s settings to protect your safety:
✅ iPhone: Search “Emergency Alerts” in settings → Turn off Severe & Emergency alerts

✅ Android: Search “Emergency Alerts” in settings → Turn off Severe & Emergency alerts (and other threat categories if listed)

The UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm.

Your mobile phone or tablet will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound, even if it’s set on silent. The alert message will confirm this is a test and that you do not need to take any further action.

Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency. Find out more at gov.uk/alerts.

You can opt out of the Emergency Alerts, including the national test, but you should keep them switched on for your own safety.

Emergency Alerts will warn you via your mobile or tablet if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby. Only the government and the emergency services are able to send them.

There are simple and effective steps we can all take to be more prepared for an emergency. Visit https://orlo.uk/FC3gV for advice on how you can prepare.

TMMG -273 DNA patients –Patients who failed to turn up for an appointments

A DNA is someone who Did Not Attend an appointment at the practice and did not tell us beforehand.

The Doctor, ANP, Nurse, CTAC Nurse, Healthcare Assistant, MHP, Physio or Pharmacist were waiting, but the patient did not attend.
This is a waste of valuable clinical and administrative resources, it also means the number of appointments available for patients who need them is reduced by each DNA that occurs.

This is a very disappointing figure and it also included extended appointments such as coil, Implanon insertion and cervical screening.

We ask our patients to work with us and bring this very disappointing figure down.

Some community pharmacies will remain open during this period and can answer questions on choosing and using the right medicine and provide advice on treating everyday ailments. NHS 24 also has a number of pharmacists who are able to answer medicine and pharmacy-related questions over the telephone on 111.
