BRIDGES INTO WORK 2 (WW&V)

Priority 1 Tackling Poverty through Sustainable Employment
Specific Objective 2 To increase the employability of Economically Inactive and Long Term Unemployed people aged 25 and over, who have complex barriers to employment. Summary of the Operation

The operation will address economic inactivity across 5 Local Authority areas in South East Wales (West Wales and the V

alleys). Through a collaborative approach, the operation aims to engage, support and prepare the economically inactive, including those who are long-term unemployed, in the most deprived areas outside of the Communities First cluster areas, to acquire the appropriate skills to become job ready and to gain sustainable employment. The changes sought through the delivery of the operation are:

• Reducing unemployment amongst those at risk of poverty and discrimination
• Reducing economic inactivity, worklessness and number of workless households
• Increasing social inclusion through sustainable employment
• Reducing barriers to sustaining employment and full time working

Joint Beneficiaries

Torfaen County Borough Council (Lead Beneficiary), together with:

Bridgend CBC; Caerphilly CBC; Life Leisure Trust trading as Aneurin Leisure; Merthyr Tydfil CBC. Target Audience

The following groups of people, who live in non-Communities First cluster areas:

• Economically inactive or long term unemployed (aged 25 and over), not in education or training.
• Economically inactive or long term unemployed (aged 25 and over), with low or no skills.
• Economically inactive or long term unemployed aged 54+.
• Economically inactive or long term unemployed (aged 25 and over), from a jobless household.
• Economically inactive or long term unemployed (aged 25 and over), with a work limiting health condition or disability.
• Economically Inactive (aged 25 and over), with care or childcare responsibilities as a secondary barrier.
• Long term unemployed (aged 25 and over), from a BME group.
