Living with diabetes can feel exhausting, emotional and sometimes lonely. Managing your health, weight, energy levels and everyday life all at once isn’t always easy , and I want you to know you don’t have to do it alone.

There are two main types of diabetes:

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the body can’t produce insulin. It usually needs daily insulin treatment and regular blood sugar monitoring.

Type 2 diabetes happens when the body struggles to use insulin properly. It can be linked to weight, lifestyle, family history and other health factors.

At Slimming World, we focus on support, understanding and realistic changes that fit into everyday life. There are no fad diets, no judgement and no pressure to be perfect , just encouragement, healthier habits and a warm, welcoming group.

For some people living with Type 2 diabetes, losing weight in a healthy, steady way may help improve blood sugar control and overall wellbeing. Slimming World can also support you if you’re taking weight loss medication, by helping you build confidence around food and long-term healthy habits.

Another amazing week of support, motivation and fantastic achievements across all of our groups. Every single member should feel incredibly proud of themselves for the commitment and determination they’ve shown this week.
Together, our members achieved an outstanding total weight loss:

Shelley and I live near Barking Park and have regular ly attended & stayed at the Tues evening SW group.

We have been going for exactly one year. I have never missed a session.

Shelley has lost 3 stone & I have lost 2 stone 4lbs.

I have been at my target weight of 11 stone 2.5 pounds since 20th Jan 2026.

Shelley set herself a far far more ambitious target.

She isn’t quite there yet but is well on her way.

I am a retired professional DJ.

Shelley is a pro dog-walker & cat-sitter. She is a lot younger than me - 23 years & is still working.

We both joined to try & improve our health.

I used to snore like a grumpy rhino but I have completely stopped now.

My diabetes levels have also greatly improved.

This was preventing me having a small op. I have now had it and all is well.

Shelley & I eat almost exactly the same SW diet.

She is a 100% strict veggie & I am about 95% there.

We both enjoy staying at the group, chatting to, and getting encouragement from Karen the other friendly members.

We always play the raffle and have won a prize for the last 4 weeks! Lucky us .

“Week 5 is officially done, and I’m happy to say I’ve lost another 5lbs! That means I’m now just 4lbs away from my first big goal getting under 20 stone for the first time in over 9 years. Honestly, it finally feels closer than ever.
This week also brought another huge milestone for me: earning my 2 stone award in just 5 weeks. Seeing that progress has given me even more motivation to keep pushing forward and stay focused on this journey.
I did have a slight slip-up this week. I thought I’d been drinking zero sugar drinks, but after checking the labels this morning, I realised they were actually regular cokes. Looking back, the weight loss this week could possibly have been even bigger if I’d noticed sooner but mistakes happen, and the important thing is learning from them and moving on.
The biggest change I’m noticing now is how much healthier and more active I’m becoming. I’m going to the gym regularly, moving around more, and overall just feeling so much better in myself. The food cravings are still there sometimes, but they’re nowhere near as bad as they were during those first few weeks, which feels like a massive win on its own.
Now it’s all about next Wednesday. Fingers crossed I finally break out of the “20 stone club” and get under that number for the first time in nearly a decade. I genuinely can’t wait for that moment.
I honestly couldn’t be more grateful for all the support and encouragement I’ve had throughout this journey so far. Slimming World has really helped me stay on track, and having people cheering me on makes such a difference.

Bradley’s update … week 4

Another week down and I’m really happy to say I’ve lost another 3.5lbs

It’s slowed down a bit compared to the first few weeks, but honestly I’m still proud. A loss is a loss, and it feels like things are settling into a more steady, sustainable rhythm now.

I’m also just 1.5lbs away from a 2 stone loss, which feels crazy to even say .
And to top it off, I was awarded Slimmer of the Month such a huge boost to my motivation!

I think part of the slowdown might be portion sizes. I’ve been cooking more and following recipes (which is great), but I’ve probably been a bit generous with my servings. It’s all part of learning what works.

On the plus side, my exercise has really picked up. As I’ve been losing weight and feeling better, I’ve naturally wanted to move more and I’m actually enjoying pushing myself now.

One of the biggest wins? My cravings have massively settled. I’m not constantly battling with food anymore, which makes everything feel so much easier.

And a big moment this week… I had to buy new clothes because my old ones are literally falling off me .That definitely hit different!

Overall, I’m feeling confident, motivated, and proud.
Slow and steady is still progress. .

Let’s be real holidays are for living, laughing, eating and making memories 
And guess what? That’s OK
But now it’s time to gently bring the focus back to YOU

A little reminder:
The scales do NOT tell your whole story
You are more than a number
Be kind to yourself you’ve made memories, and you deserve that.
This week is not about restriction it’s about RESET

SMALL STEPS = BIG CHANGES ✨
Get back on plan (no waiting for Monday!)

Move your body (walk, gym, dance it all counts!)
Drink your water

Ready to feel calmer, brighter and more energized?
Are you thinking of taking on Slimming World’s 7-day activity challenge , it’s SO simple just 3 mindful moves a day, each taking a minute or less!

Here’s a summary of each day.

DAY 1
• Shoulder swoops (30-60 secs)
• Wake-up march (1 min)
• Reach for the sky (30 secs)

DAY 2
• Steady side-to-sides (1 min)
• And... breathe (1 min)
• Easy neck circles (30-45 secs)

DAY 3
• Shake it loose (1 min)
• Step and smile (1 min)
• Soft-focus stretch (30 secs)

DAY 4
• Kick up your heels (1 min)
• Circle the air (30-45 secs)
• Side-slide bends (30 secs)

DAY 5
• Wall-press energisers (1 min)
• Gentle knee lifts (1 min)
