What an incredible show of community spirit! 💙
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported the recent fundraiser at Thornhill House Care Home.

Thanks to your generosity, we are absolutely thrilled to share that we raised:
✨ £1,350 for Barnsley Hospital Charity
✨ £650 for Alfie’s trip to Africa – which more than covers the cost of his required vaccines!

This proves, once again, the amazing support we have from our local community and beyond. Your kindness, donations, time and encouragement make such a difference, and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of such a caring and generous community.
Thank you all for helping make this such a fantastic success! 💛🌍

🛍️ A Lovely Shopping Trip for Katie! 😊
Today, Katie enjoyed a wonderful trip out shopping! She chose her very own pair of slippers and proudly paid for them herself – what a fantastic achievement 👏

At Thornhill House in Darfield, we are passionate about supporting our residents to maintain their independence and make their own choices wherever possible. Moments like these are so important – not only are they meaningful activities, but they also help build confidence and bring a real sense of accomplishment.
Most importantly, it made Katie smile – and that made our day too! 💛

Everyone at Thornhill House Care Home is delighted to invite residents’ families, friends, and our wonderful local community to a special Fundraising Coffee Afternoon on:

☕ Delicious coffee and sweet treats
🤝 Great company for a fantastic cause

All proceeds from the afternoon will go to Help 4 Homeless Veterans, a charity doing incredible work supporting vulnerable veterans.

Our dedicated team at Thornhill House has proudly pledged to raise £500 in 2026 for this local charity, and this event is part of our journey to reach that goal.
We’d love to see as many of you there as possible — bring your friends and help us make a difference together!

🇬🇧 Strong Life Veterans Reunion – Thornhill House, Darfield 🇬🇧

We’re incredibly proud to be hosting a very special Veterans Reunion at Thornhill House Care Home on 13th May 2026 — and you’re invited.

This free community event is an opportunity for veterans and their families to come together, share stories, reminisce, and enjoy a proper good catch up in a warm and welcoming setting.

There’ll be:
🎤 A live entertainer
🥧 Traditional pie & peas
☕ Great company
💬 Plenty of conversation and connection

At Thornhill House, being part of the community matters. As a Veteran Friendly care home, we understand how important it is to honour service, recognise shared experiences, and create spaces where veterans feel understood, valued and never forgotten.

🔴🎉 BACK WAX FOR RED NOSE DAY?! 🎉🔴

You read that right… and yes, it’s happening! 😳👏

On Thursday, 20th March at 10am, Thornhill House will be hosting a Sponsored Back Wax in support of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day and our Residents’ Fund.

Our very brave volunteer will be putting his back on the line (quite literally!) — and you can get involved by:

💥 Buying a wax strip for just £3
❤️ Half goes to Comic Relief
🏡 Half goes to our Residents’ Fund

It’s going to be a morning full of laughter, community spirit and maybe a few dramatic reactions!

Events like this aren’t just about fundraising — they’re about bringing people together, raising smiles and making memories with our residents. And if that means a little temporary pain for a great cause… so be it! 😅

Look out for our Red Nose Day activities!

❤️ We’re Going Red on March 20th! ❤️

On March 20th, every Strong Life Care home will be wearing red to support Red Nose Day — and we can’t wait! 🔴

We take part in lots of fundraising events throughout the year, but there’s something about Red Nose Day that really brings everyone together.

Our Activity Coordinators always throw themselves into it, the whole team joins in, and our residents absolutely love the fun. Whether it’s dressing up, themed games, or a bit of friendly competition, the atmosphere across our homes is always brilliant.

Days like this are about more than fancy dress.
They’re about laughter.
They’re about breaking up the routine.
They’re about creating shared moments that lift everyone’s spirits.

When teams laugh together, it strengthens bonds. When residents see that joy and energy around them, it makes a difference to their day too.

We’re so proud to be supporting Comic Relief again this year — and even prouder of the incredible teams who make it such a special occasion in our homes.

If you think everyone’s tucked up in bed by 9pm in a care home… think again 👀✨
At Thornhill House Care Home, the fun doesn’t clock off when the sun goes down.
While the world outside was winding down, our wonderful night team were just getting started — creating a calm, cosy and oh-so-relaxing pamper evening for our amazing residents 💅🧖‍♀️💆‍♂️
From soothing hand massages to a little extra TLC, the smiles said it all. Laughter, chats, relaxation and that special feeling of being cared for — because feeling good doesn’t have a bedtime.
We’re so proud of our night staff who go above and beyond to make every hour meaningful, not just the daytime ones. 🌙💙
Who says the best moments only happen between 9 and 5?
